R.A. Salvatore's new Drizzt novel Timeless will be published in September:

https://www.edelweiss.plus/#sku=0062688596

Quote

At long last, New York Times bestselling author R. A. Salvatore returns with one of fantasy’s most beloved and enduring icons, the dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden, in an all-new trilogy full of swordplay, danger, and imaginative thrills

Centuries ago, in the city of Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, the City of Drow, nestled deep in the unmerciful Underdark of Toril, a young weapon master earned a reputation far above his station or that of his poor house.

The greater nobles watched him, and one matron, in particular, decided to take him as her own. She connived with rival great houses to secure her prize, but that prize was caught for her by another, who came to quite enjoy the weapon master.

This was the beginning of the friendship between Zaknafein and Jarlaxle, and the coupling of Matron Malice and the weapon master who would sire Drizzt Do’Urden.

R. A. Salvatore reveals the Underdark anew through the eyes of Zaknafein and Jarlaxle—an introduction to the darkness that offers a fresh view of the opportunities to be found in the shadows and an intriguing prelude to the intriguing escapes that lie ahead in the modern-day Forgotten Realms. Here, a father and his son are reunited and embark on adventures that parallel the trials of centuries long past as the friends of old are joined by Drizzt, Hero of the North, trained by Grandmaster Kane in the ways of the monk.

But the scourge of the dangerous Lolth’s ambitions remain, and demons have been foisted on the unwitting of the surface. The resulting chaos and war will prove to be the greatest challenge for all three.

Haha, didn't the Drizzt books supposedly end, for like, the third or fourth time recently?

LOL - I had the exact same thought:  "Wait...I thought Salvatore said...again...that he was done with that character."

Guess not. Not that I was going to read them - I finished with Salvatore a long time ago. But I have a soft spot for the originals, as they were pretty important to the younger me.

When Sancia Grado agrees to steal an ancient artefact for a mysterious client, she thinks it's just another job. But what she discovers could open the door to an ancient evil and bring the city of Tevanne to its knees . . .

She thought it was just another job. But her discovery could bring the city to its knees . . .

The city of Tevanne runs on scrivings, the magical inscriptions that make inanimate objects sentient; they power everything, from wheels to weapons. Scrivings have brought enormous progress and enormous wealth - but only to the four merchant Houses who control the magic. Everyone else is a servant or slave, or they eke a precarious living in the hellhole called the Commons.

There's not much in the way of work for an escaped slave like Sancia Grado, but she has an unnatural talent that makes her one of the best thieves in the city. When she's offered a lucrative job to steal an ancient artefact from a heavily guarded warehouse, Sancia agrees, dreaming of a leaving the Commons - but instead of escape, she finds herself the target of a murderous conspiracy: someone powerful in Tevanne wants Sancia dead, and the artefact in their hands.

To survive, Sancia will need every ally and every ounce of wits at her disposal. Because if the Houses get the artefact and unlock its secrets, thousands will die - and even worse, it will allow ancient evils back into the world and turn their city into a devastated battleground.

Salvation by Peter F. Hamilton – Macmillan/Del Rey, Sep 2018

Quote

Humanity's complex relationship with technology spirals out of control in this first book of an all-new trilogy from "the owner of the most powerful imagination in science fiction" (Ken Follett).

In 2204, humanity is expanding into the wider galaxy in leaps and bounds. Cutting-edge technology of linked jump gates has rendered most forms of transportation--including starships--virtually obsolete. Every place on earth, every distant planet humankind has settled, is now merely a step away from any other. And all seems wonderful--until a crashed alien spaceship of unknown origin is found on a newly-located world eighty-nine light years from Earth, carrying a cargo as strange as it is horrifying. To assess the potential of the threat a high-powered team is dispatched to investigate. But one of them may not be all they seem...

Bursting with tension and big ideas, this standalone series highlights the inventiveness of an author at the top of his game, as the interweaving story lines tell us not only how humanity arrived at this moment, but also the far-future consequences that spin off from it.

Pretty sure Salvatore himself just said "no comment" regarding future novels.  The speculation was the Forgotten Realms line as a whole being axed, which didn't seem too unlikely outside of Drizzt given the demise of the other D&D fiction lines.

I've thought for a while that Drizzt novels would outlive Forgotten Realms branding.  Will be interesting to see if that's the case.

AND NOW SHE’S TRYING TO TAKE MY PLACE . . .

Liz Kendall wouldn’t hurt a fly. She’s a gentle woman devoted to bringing up her kids in a loving home, no matter how hard times get.

And when this other side of her takes control, the consequences are devastating.

Sounds good, but honestly, I just wish he would write more Felix Castor books.  Of course, those didn't sell nearly as well as the ones under the M. R. name.

From Brandon Sanderson, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Reckoners series, Words of Radiance, and the internationally bestselling Mistborn series, comes the first book in an epic new series about a girl who dreams of becoming a pilot in a dangerous world at war with aliens.

Spensa’s world has been under attack for hundreds of years. An alien race called the Krell leads onslaught after onslaught from the sky in a never-ending campaign to destroy humankind. Humanity’s only defense is to take to their ships and combat the Krell. Pilots are the heroes of what’s left of the human race.

Becoming a pilot has always been Spensa’s dream. Since she was a little girl, she has imagined soaring above the earth and proving her bravery. But her fate is intertwined with that of her father — a pilot himself who was killed years ago when he abruptly deserted his team, leaving Spensa’s chances of attending Flight School at slim to none.

No one will let Spensa forget what her father did, but she is determined to fly. And the Krell just made that a possibility. They’ve doubled their fleet, which will make Spensa’s world twice as deadly… but just might take her skyward.

Key selling points:

SUPERSTAR AUTHOR: Brandon Sanderson is one of the biggest authors in fantasy today. He is a superstar with a dedicated fanbase.

FALL 2018 IS A BIG MOMENT FOR BRANDON: The paperback of Oathbringer goes on-sale (10/30/18). Although, he won’t go on tour for that release, the hardcover of Oathbringer (11/14/17) has sold 500,000 copies to date.

YA SUCCESS: This will be his second YA series and we already have had enormous success with his first — all three books in the Reckoners series: Steelheart, Firefight, and Calamity, were instant #1 New York Times bestsellers.

ACCESSIBLE READ: Like the Maze Runner series and the Reckoners series, this is an incredibly accessible action-adventure series, easy for readers, reluctant and not, to lose him/herself in. This book reads like a movie!

GIRL PROTAGONIST: This series has a heroine leading the charge, so we hope to attract more girl readers to Brandon’s rabid fan base.

Jennifer Estep's first epic fantasy novel Kill the Queen (Crown of Shards #1) will be published in October by Harper Voyager:

https://www.edelweiss.plus/#sku=0062797611

Quote

Gladiator meets Game of Thrones: a royal woman becomes a skilled warrior to destroy her murderous cousin, avenge her family, and save her kingdom in this first entry in a dazzling fantasy epic from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Elemental Assassin series — an enthralling tale that combines magic, murder, intrigue, adventure, and a hint of romance

In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten.

But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family. Luckily for Evie, her secret immunity to magic helps her escape the massacre.

Forced into hiding to survive, she falls in with a gladiator troupe. Though they use their talents to entertain and amuse the masses, the gladiators are actually highly trained warriors skilled in the art of war, especially Lucas Sullivan, a powerful magier with secrets of his own. Uncertain of her future — or if she even has one — Evie begins training with the troupe until she can decide her next move.

But as the bloodthirsty Vasilia exerts her power, pushing Bellona to the brink of war, Evie’s fate becomes clear: she must become a fearsome gladiator herself... and kill the queen.

Key selling points:

Quote
  • More than1 million copies of Jennifer Estep’s books have been sold in North America alone.
  • There is a huge, booming market for magic/royal/fantasy novels and this first in a new series combines all the elements these readers love. Kill the Queen is perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard, Sarah J Maas, Amanda Bouchet, Jim Butcher, Erika Johansen, and Sarah Beth Durst.
  • There is also a large crossover audience with urban fantasy and romance readers, and Kill the Queen will appeal to fans of Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene Frost, Gena Showalter and Kresley Cole.

Gollancz are pushing Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio as the "biggest SF debut of 2018".

Here's the blurb:

Quote

Empire of Silence is the debut from a bold and brilliant new voice in the genre. This is Dune meets The Name of the Wind in the biggest SF debut of 2018.

Meet Hadrian Marlow.

Hadrian Marlowe, a man revered as a hero and despised as a murderer, chronicles his tale in the galaxy-spanning debut of the Sun Eater series, merging the best of space opera and epic fantasy.

It was not his war.

On the wrong planet, at the right time, for the best reasons, Hadrian Marlowe started down a path that could only end in fire. The galaxy remembers him as a hero: the man who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. They remember him as a monster: the devil who destroyed a sun, casually annihilating four billion human lives–even the Emperor himself–against Imperial orders.

But Hadrian was not a hero. He was not a monster. He was not even a soldier.

Fleeing his father and a future as a torturer, Hadrian finds himself stranded on a strange, backwater world. Forced to fight as a gladiator and navigate the intrigues of a foreign planetary court, he will find himself fighting a war he did not start, for an Empire he does not love, against an enemy he will never understand.

Empire of Silence will be available in hardback, ebook and audio download on 5th July 2018.

Another debut, A Conspiracy of Truths by Alexandra Rowland,is being described as “a fantasy of fake news" by Saga Press.Available on October 23, 2018.

Blurb:

Quote

In a bleak, far-northern land, a wandering storyteller is arrested on charges of witchcraft. Though Chant protests his innocence, he is condemned not only as a witch but a spy. His only chance to save himself rests with the skills he has honed for decades: tell a good story, catch and hold their attention, or die.

But the attention he catches is that of the five elected rulers of the country, and Chant finds himself caught in a tangled, corrupt political game, which began long before he ever arrived here. As he’s snatched from one Queen’s grasp to another, he realizes that he could either be a pawn for one of them . . . or a player in his own right. After all, he knows better than anyone how powerful the right story can be. Powerful enough to save a life, certainly. Perhaps even powerful enough to bring a nation to its knees.

Adrian Selby brings us into an unforgettable world filled with adventure, bloodshed and betrayal.

But when a mysterious organization offers her the purse of a lifetime to get the recipe for a powerful new fightbrew through the most dangerous territory in the world before the dead of winter, Amondsen sees a chance to take bloody revenge.

Key selling points:

Quote
  • Years of work developing video games has given the author a cutting-edge vision for design, world building and action.
  • Whereas Snakewood was challenging and complex, in plot and use of language, in this, his second novel, he's telling a more purely commercial fantasy story that will appeal to a large portion of the fantasy market.
  • For fans of Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence.
