missandei and grey worm sex. no one cares.

Agreed. Waste of precious screen time, better used for actual meaningful plot.

But sorry, you're stuck with Sansa for a while yet.

Another small detail:

Olenna (paraphrasing) "you know how I survived? not listening to anyone"

*cuts to Margeary telling her to run back to highgarden*

I just love the logic behind Tyrion's master plan - "If we attack the capital with a foreign army, this would look bad to the Westerosi, so we shouldn't do it. But if we attack Casterly Rock and the huge city which it protects with the same foreign army, everyone would be fine with it." And as always nobody on this show gives a damn about logistics and Westeros is apparently the size of Long Island so going around most if it by ship is super easy and fast.

Jon and Sansa again failed to discuss their strategy before hand and ended up disagreeing publicly because they are dumb.

Poor LF is the dumbest person in Westeros in this show.

Emilia Clarke's performance was shockingly bad. She's never been a particularly good actress, but somehow she's gotten worse in the last few seasons. Her talk with Varys was hilarious. Why didn't they have this discussion before?

That battle at the end was high comedy. So silly and so over the top. At least they finally got rid of 2 Sand Snakes.

Minor rant that I have not seen here : in the second season of the show Danny is chastising the Unsullied master slaver with her perfect knowledge of Valyrian language and now when speaking to Melisandre she doesn't understand basic grammar rules used in this language - I am referring to the bit where Missandei tells her that Prince that was promised can be translated as Prince or Princess.

Not something of great importance since the show gone retarded after season 3 but I just wanted to throw something in the pot.

I actually think D&D attempted, albeit poorly, to show Arya's 'facelessness' when talking to Hot Pie - she didn't care that she just met an old friend, she didn't even look at him and snapped short remarks and only when he mentioned Stark family, she became warm. Arya's storyline is nowhere near as bad as the other ones, I mean just look at power Sansa, who demonstrates that through talking out to a King every chance she gets, then shuts up immediately about the 'danger' when she gets to be in charge

that's what I took from that scene with hot pie. Remember how hot pie says arry what happened to you. He can tell she has changed. Also yeah I wanted to smack sansa during that scene.

Sansa-Jon you can't go it's a trap etc etc

Jon-I'm leaving you in charge while I am gone

sansa says nothing but nods.

Season 7, with only 7 episodes. And we get minutes wasted on pointless Missandei/Greyworm scenes, and Samwell ''curing'' greyscale. Two episodes in and we get tons of exposition.

This late in the show, we shouldn't be getting scenes like this. It's clear that the Missandei scene was all about seeing the actress naked. And the Sam scene could have happened off-screen, but we needed something gross apparently. Meanwhile Littlefinger still makes no sense and is doing everything he can to get himself killed. He played his part of the ''mastermind'' during season one, and now he's just tagging along, because his storyline got gutted and they couldn't come up with something new. Same for Jaime. He was the ''sister-fucker'' in season one, and has been doing nothing since season 3, just tagging along. They cut his story, and gave him nothing.

D&D are total hacks. It's clear they were only interested in adapting this until the Red wedding. Actors, who were mostly amazing during the run, are phoning it in too. Emilia was always bad, but even she has gotten worse. The show is on a fast track on grouping up the good guys vs the bad guys, no matter how poorly thought out or rushed. It's clear nobody wants to be doing this anymore.

According to the spoilers

no she won't

I actually liked the MissWorm scene more than most people here. It was a purely consensual scene and even though Missandei was naked it felt less voyeuristic than most sex scenes on GoT. I was acutally thinking "is this GoT I'm watching?. I wish previous sex scenes had been done like this. However, I agree with everyone that it was too long and that i the entire Missandei/ Greyworm romance was unnecessary and that they could have spend the time on something else. I guess we got this scene because

Greyworm is going to die. They included this scene as a moment of two characters bonding, before one of them dies, so that his dies feels more shocking

TM .They did the same with Stannis and Sheireen or Jaime and Myrcella. It's pretty lazy writing, but part of D&D's formular.

Why was Arya barely even looking at Hot Pie and zoning in and out of a dead fish eye look but was cool with Lannister soldiers? She looked like she may have been rethinking her Frey revenge or at least how it was executed with the Lannister soldiers, but in this episode she compared her human Frey pies to Hot Pie’s without a thought which creeped me out.  I’m really confused with what they’re doing with Arya. She’s normal, then we’re supposed to be worried about her, then she’s fine, then the Terminator…She’s giving me whiplash.

“Only a king can treat with a queen” or whatever is complete nonsense. Reps are sent all of the time as monarchs leaving their own kingdom is both dangerous and not very bright politically. Which was established earlier in the episode.

Why would LF tell Jon that he loves Sansa? What was he hoping to gain there? Heeeeey Jon, wanna hear my evil plans that I’ll be up to while you’re away? Jon was leaving so it was clearly to get some reaction, but sheesh, to what ends? So Jon decides not to leave or to come back early? Both of those work against LF. He clearly didn’t get the reaction he thought he would. I don’t get it.

Why don't they just come out and start calling Jon Snow Westeros Jesus? It couldn't be any more heavy-handed than what they're doing now.

Olenna: Judge the quality of the advice you receive by genitalia.

Dany is so stony and prickly that I’m going to struggle with her if they have her try to show any real emotion later. She'll just look like a cartoonish Jekyll and Hyde. St Tyrion on one shoulder (Queen of the Ashes)  and the devil Olenna (Be a Dragon) on the other. Bad writing, a major split personality, played by Emilia. This isn’t going to come off well.

Tyrion vouches for Jon with no qualifier that that the last time he talked to him was several years ago when Jon was still a kid. Tyrion knows better than anyone how people can change.

Tyrion finds out that Jon, a bastard, is KitN but doesn’t get the details of that. Varys, the Master of Whispers, has apparently never heard of Ned Stark’s bastard. Varys and Tyrion are making war plans against Cersei but have no clue that she no longer holds the North? Also had no clue about Euron rebuilding his fleet. You’d think they’ve updated their intel before finalizing plans. Also, no one on Team Dany knew any of this either?

Thought Grey Worm and Missandei could have been creative and sensual via erogenous zones, or something like the pottery scene in Ghost, whatever. But nope. Instead of something mutual they could share, Missandei’s just lies back, “that’s ok, you can still service me Grey Worm”. Did like the acting though especially from Jacob.

Supporter says he supports you because you’re a great humanitarian. When you warm him against betraying you, you don’t threaten the standard painless beheading, but burning him alive which is one of the cruelest forms of torture in existence. Good job, you’ve just gone a long way to convincing him to bail on you. In secret. Probably at an inconvenient time. When you have a gun dragon, all of your problems look like targets dragon food.

Show Euron isn’t as bad as I thought he’d be, but it’ll always pale against Richard Armitage as Book Euron. I’d rather show Euron channel Vikings more than Pirates of the Caribbean. Hoping Euron turns out to be deep in some magic stuff to explain why he has radar, cloaking shields and the ability to build so many ships that fast.

What’s with all the rum in Westeros lately? Is that a Euron/Jack Sparrow inside joke?

Didn’t need to see so much Jorah torture porn. Why did he sound so much like a dog?

Sophie and Maisie are lapsing into speaking as modern teenagers, not a more formalized speech which would better suit the time period of the series.

I was hoping for magic heat seeking surface to dragon missiles, but got a gimungous cross-bow instead.

Pretty much. The problem is Emilia never pulls off badass looks or emotion very well.

Maisie Williams does a fantastic job of portraying a mix of emotions in a single expression or portraying a badass with a single look. For example, the look on her face after killing Walder Frey or how she basically channeled the Hound in her interactions with Hot Pie in last nights episode and did a great job of demonstrating how Arya is more emotionally detached than she used to be.

Lena Heady is also very good at displaying badass looks and emotions. Lenas expressions as she watched the sept of baelor destruction was brilliant.

Emilia though just comes across as deadpan the whole time. She does not do emotions well and to me has never given the impression of badass from her acting.

:agree:

And it's worst when she's in a scene with someone who's a good actor. Like when she confronted Varys. Conneth Hill did what he could with this scene and showed so much emotions and she just had the same face during the whole scene.

Speaking of Varys they should have really included Aegon or killed off Varys two seasons ago. That would have avoided some plotholes.

@Lollygag Nice rant. I agree with everything you wrote.

So after having the Faith of the Seven intrude into the story for two seasons they are gone with the green wind!

I mean supposedly KL  lived fear of the Faith Militant's popularity because the possibility of wide spread engaging the Faith Passive ( a much larger number). Well the Faith of the Seven are still there but just noodling around ?  This large number is not upset with their 'Saint Peters' vaporized?

There should be more than the vassals of the crown upset. In fact seems like a power grab for the crown would be in the cards , and not by Danny.

In fact if Dany was to proclaim for the Faith now she could waltz into KL to a cheering  crowd!

Must all connection between Arya and Nymeria be cut out of the show? The coldness Nym showed to Arya was totally unnecessary - even if she had to remain in the Riverlands whilst Arya headed north for budgetary/logistical/Chekhov's pack reasons, they could have given them a warm reunion before realising that there is no way they could stay together. This is on top of the warging and encounters with wolves in season 2/3 being gotten rid of.

The reason given that Nymeria didn't want to be a pet anymore is just bullshit. Since when were the direwolves just pets to the Stark kids? They've always been much, much more than that - protectors, companions, etc. Plus Nymeria wanting to stay with her (ridiculously tiny) pack only explains why she doesn't leave not why she shows no affection to Arya.

Cogman said this about it: "She’s gathered this pack of wolves and is now doing the Old Gods’ work herself. Arya and Nymeria do and don’t have the connection they’ve always had. In the end, they’re both lone wolves." Talk about contradicting yourself within three sentences.

1. Wtf was Euron's attack other than pretty visuals?

WHERE are we? Dragonstone? Middle of the Sea? How did Euron creep up on them like that and why weren't they expecting an attack when everybody reads The Westeros Times and knows everything? Where did all the fire come from? Does Euron have fire catapults on his ships? It would have been cool to see one. The sandsnakes died a lame death but we are FINALLY rid of them. Even that scene in the hammocks to remind us they exist was a waste of time.

What happened? Was that Ellaria spiked to the front of Euron's ship and Yara hanging from it? The scene was so dark it was impossible to make out for sure so I could only guess. This is unforgivable. It is unforgivable to have such poorly lit scenes that the audience has difficulty following the plot.

Why did Theon all of a sudden get PTSD when he should have tried to save his sister? He stood to fight freaking Bolton men when he was running with Sansa. But fine, he got ptsd. At least this mirrored the scene when Yara just left him in winterfell and let shirtless Ramsay open a dog cage instead of slicing him in two. It is still unsatisfying because Theon is still alive. Can't the guy die already? He was no purpose in the story whatsoever. I suppose someone has to tell the tale, but doesn't everybody know everything anyway?

If this was near Dragonstone why doesn't Euron (and Cersei) automatically attack Daenerys and put Dragonstone under siege?

Even though I hated both the ironborn and the dornish women I hope Daenerys burns the shit out of Euron's fleet with Drogon, just because that would be satisfying to watch.

This was one weird ass way to take out five redundant supporting characters. Oh well.

2. Wtf is with Daenerys? Why is she a cold, conceited piece of shit now that she landed in Westeros? Why is everybody Cersei? Sansa is Cersei, Daenerys is Cersei, Cersei is Cersei. Is this supposed to be "badass" and appealing?

3. Where's Bran?

4. How can Cersei have anybody at all supporting her if everybody knows she blew up the great sept of Baelor? This is still a gaping plot hole. Why is Randyll Tarly even answering Cersei's call? Her liege lord is siding with a Targaryen, he himself had sided with the Targareyns back in RR, Cersei's reign is as unlawful as it gets. Why. Is. He. There.

The greatest contradiction of D&D in my opinion:  "there's just so much to adapt from the books, it's impossible, we just don't have time to get to most things."  Then they proceed to have an entire season worth of filler material spread out among three seasons (4-6).

Why the fuck is it so dark everywhere? Every scene happens either at night or in poorly lit rooms. Maybe they took the Long Night too literally.

Why is everyone dressed in black?

Where is everyone? Where are the Dothraki? They were supposed to be afraid of water, yet D&D didn't bother to give us a single damn scene of their reaction to crossing the Narrow Sea and landing on Westeros. Where are the Unsullied? There wasn't a single scene of Dany's army so far. Instead of her epic invasion of Westeros it feels like she just stepped out of a boat with five people and started plotting. Actually, the whole series feels like there are maybe a hundred people in Westeros. Where are the commonfolk in King's Landing? Do they not give a shit about the sept being blown up? Their religious leaders were just murdered, how is it that they're not rioting?

And WHERE IS GHOST??? Hello, did the writers forget about him? He should be at Jon's side at all times. Does he not remember he was KILLED because he didn't have Ghost with him? Why isn't Ghost sitting beside him at the meetings? It would make Jon seem a stronger leader and a legitimate successor to Robb. Jon's connection to Ghost was a huge part of the books. We have unreasonably long and idiotic sex scenes but Ghost is nowhere to be seen. Man, I hate D&D so much.

I honestly found that scene even more voyeuristic than many others (not counting the naked whores in the background, of course) simply because they actually reenacted 'normal sex'. A proper way to make that interesting would have been to have Greyworm do what he could still do - give Missandei some cunnilingus. If he knows how to do it (not that likely considering his biography) she would have preferred that to his cock anyway.

And why were there so shy about showing us some proper eunuch? That would have been the interesting thing, not some additional boobs.

Jon's reaction to Littlefinger's 'advances' is perhaps the most childish and ridiculous scene I've ever seen in this show. This is not some playground machismo thing. 'If you want to fuck my bigamist sister who was raped and dishonored by some mad sadist you married her to instead of claiming her yourself then I'm going to kill you!' What the fuck? Why not kill him for some of his actual crimes and betrayals, you know? Or why not finally thank him for saving your fucking ass you little ingrate would-be king? Why not giving Sansa to him and bind him properly to House Stark this way? Quite honestly, if Littlefinger controls the Vale they fucking need those men.

Emilia had the deadpan turned up to 11!  Whomever said she delivers every single line as if it's going to be in the trailer or highlight reel was exactly correct.

Why did they make the battle so dark?

I literally couldn't tell if these were the same 3 actresses playing the sand spices or if one or two had been recast?  Thankfully Obara who could give Emilia a run for her money in the deadpan delivery category was put out of her misery.

This show barely ever shows penises and when it's done it's not done in sex scenes of for showing something sexy, but more for laughs like Hodor in the first season, or the guy in the theathre trope in Season 6. Women always get naked in sex scenes while men are allowed to keep their trousers (see Jon and Ygritte, Robb and Talisa, Melisandre and Gendry, Melisandre and Stannis, Myranda and Ramsay, Ros's scenes, and many more that I can't remember right now.). They have double standards in these regards. It would have been better the way you described, but my expectations for GoT have become so low that I don't expect to ever see a male full frontal in a sex scene on GoT.

The lighting is really bad. I couldn't see much during the Hound and BwB scenes last week and had similar problems during the battle. I wasn't sure against whom Euron was actually fighting most of the time. They used the same actresses as before, but the one playing Tyene has a new hair cut every season.Combine that with the lighting and it's hard to recognise her.
