Afterall the Eastern States decided to join on their own accord (for the economical perks), if they feel the obligation to guarantee western democratic values is too steep a price to pay, maybe they should indeed look towards Moscow. Over time i think the east will become less powerfull as their demographics turn and they will be forced to listen more to westerners. Eastern europe also depends on western europe for safe and guaranteed acess to the world ocean something russia has wanted for centuries as shipping is the cheapest form of transportation and incredibly useful for global trade. Russias biggest harbours in russias core(west of the urals) do all have chokepoints that nato control like bosphorus, the baltic sea and russias northern harbours are frozen for long periods of the year and the cost of transport is higher there. Russia could use its pacific harbours but the cost of transport to the pacific is high. I would say the people who gains the most in the EU system is the upper middle class and the upper class of all european countries especialy western european countries as they have more inherited property and can invest in cheaper markets to the east. I think that right now eastern europe is strong enought to stand on its own feet. Now the pesky Brits have exited stage right pursued by a bear the project can continue. And the migrant crisis has been resolved. Lots more Euros for everybody!
