Lady Fevre Dream

[Spoilers] Rant and Rave Without Repercussion

Basically, Cersei was given a plot armour made of Valyrian steel in order to remain the main baddie of the season, and that partly extends to Euron. Honestly, what was the deal with the victory parade and the adulation from KL plebs? Ironborn are mostly known for rape and pillage, Lannisters are mostly known for sibling incest, backstabbing their allies and defectating on smallfolk since the day they got their hands on power, and suddenly, everyone in KL claps for Euron and Cersei, like they're hot stuff.  None of it makes sense, it's purely there to drive tension and not make Danny victory more obvious, just like the whole "You don't want to be the queen of ashes" Tyrion schtik, which, so far, lost her all her allies, and reduced her to sitting on dragonstone and posturing about being born to rule the Seven Kingdoms. It feels like they're filling the gaps beteeen more interesting moments in the show with shoddy attempts to display court politics and pointless exchanges between characters. My only hope is that they don't introduce more plot holes this season.

Lol, talk about being optimistic. If they don't introduce more plot holes in the first five minutes of the next episode, I will be surprised.

Sometimes I envy those people I know that haven't read the books and watch every Sunday with ease - without constantly silently screaming WTF is going here?

I have a friend like that; really smart guy, been a fan since episode 1. We used to talk all the time about it, enthusiastically. He figured out Rhaegar and Lyanna after 4 seasons or something. Now I just avoid the topic altogether. it's sad.

You didn’t earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don’t take any responsibility… for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you’re selling it. You want to sell it!

Your Scientists SHOW RUNNERS were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.

I'd hate to see what show runners with this level of hubris try next...

As usual, I am behind and have not caught up on the thread yet either, but I need to post these somewhere for the sake of my remaining sanity. If there was even half an ounce of logic left it has finally evaporated.

Nice scenery, I’m pretty sure Dragonstone didn’t look like that before.

Jon & Tyrion’s first conversation on the beach – don’t have much to say. Re-watching season 1 doesn’t mean your continuity makes sense though.

I don’t know why they like calling them Amy of the Dead now, it’s like they were thinking of the Return of the King (film not book).

I don’t want to comment on Jon & Davos teleporting to Dragonstone, but I’m pretty sure they did.

Tyrion continues to sound obnoxious.

Conveniently timed dragon-flight over their heads was conveniently timed.

The whole thing makes me think how stupid it was for Jon to go himself and not send an emissary.

Dany’s title is missing Roynar again. Does this mean Dorne (Porne) has disappeared again?

Davos/Jon have a good point about not mattering who has Iron Throne when Walkers come, but if Dany wasn’t trying to help Cersei to win, she would just fly her dragons in and kill Cersei. The dragging out of Cersei is ridiculous.

Also Dany wouldn’t need Jon’s miniscule forces if it wasn’t for the ridiculous plot contrivances of Dany’s forces allow Cersei to win.

Also why does Jon think that Cersei, who was involved in Ned’s death, is not an enemy?

Both Jon & Dany are very irritating in this conversation.

Dany said to Jon did you see 3 dragons as you approached and he said yes, but he only actually saw 1 dragon as far as I can recall.

If the CG-Budget-Eating Dragons weren’t used so pointlessly, perhaps Jon could have brought Rover (Ghost) with him to show his Starkness. The Dire Wolves aren’t even talked about by other people anymore. I supposed if Ghost was there, Drogon would probably just eat him.

And why can’t Jon say he came back from the dead? Won’t that help him prove his ‘point’?

Are Mellisansbra’s words to Varys meant to be heavyhanded foreshadowing that they will die next year?

Do those mistakes include burning a small girl alive to melt 3 inches of snow?

Why did Varys’s hatred for magic suddenly disappear? Or was it not meant to suggest that?

I’m not going to comment on the Bran & Sansa “reunion”.

Theon scene was pointless except to remind us how shitty D&D “adapted” him.

Why were the crowd/smallfolk cheering and booing in accordance with Cersei’s wished? They don’t feel like real people at all? Maybe they are all goldfish.

And no Larry’s “justification” was not a satisfactory answer. The book smallfolk only cheer at someone they love and go riotous at someone they don’t. It just shows that none of it makes sense. Cersei should have no power at all, even if she is a better ruler than Dany and Jon.

That maid of Cersei has somehow gotten Cheryl’s hair and outfit. And doesn’t care about incest. Is Cheryl making clones of herself?

Why does Euron want to marry Cersei? Because plot?

How did Cheryl/Qyburn find out how Ellaria killed Myrcella. Even with spies, they aren’t the sort of details that would get out, unless the useless Pornish Guards blabbed before they disappeared into oblivion.

Prolonged torture scene shows what D&Ds fave scenes of the episode were.

Cartoonish villains get cartoonish villain deaths from another villain giving evil monologue.

Everyone forgets that they hate incest just as they all forgot they hate Cersei.

Poor Larry. If he was Jaime he wouldn’t be here.

Oh look it’s Mark Gatiss and it’s clear D&D haven’t remembered that Braavos is one of the Free Cities and the IB is against slavery do they.

And two weeks, I hope Larry’s got his mass teleportation device ready.

Oh look, Jorah is magically cured overnight, what a surprise. What a stupid idea more like.

And Maester Slughorn is beginning to sound more and more like he should be back in Hogwarts. At least he seems to be enjoying himself.

The Oldtown “plot” is stupid box-ticking.

Littlefinger’s stupid line about “fight every battle everywhere always in your mind” made me snort aloud. It’s just as well that I’d been prepared for it already.

I know its been discussed and criticised at length already what with the trailer and preview so all I’ll say is it one of, if not the, most ludicrous nonsensical lines in a highly rated show ever.

Oh look Sansa is now amazing at everything. I wonder when she switches to a stupid personality again.

And what on earth is Lord Royce doing exactly? Have he and his Vale Knights turned into Northmen all of a sudden?

Poor Isaac. Of course Bran can’t explain how he’s the Three Eyed Raven (why not Crow?) now, just as Littlefinger can’t explain why he sold Sansa to the Boltons, just as Fauxllaria can’t explain her actions. Just as Larry can’t explain why he’s doing anything. Just as why Arya wouldn’t be able to explain how she did what she did to the Freys or how she survived the fatal blow.

Why doesn’t Dany think Tyrion incompetent or her enemy after his stupid plots predictably failed? Even if that failure was mostly due to the teleportation and magical plot gifts and abilities if her enemies?

Casterly Rock looks pathetic.

Why do they have to say Tyrion and Tywin built Casterly Rock themselves? It is thousands of years old. Just because Tyrion’s Saintliness and Charles Dance’s Charles Dance-liness?

Why did Tyrion think it a good idea to take Casterly Rock anyway? And why don’t Larry (and D&D) understand how castles and fortresses work?

Oh look at Euron’s teleporting fleet and its magical fireballs again. Joy.

Oh and Larry has got his mass teleporter working, as there is his humongous Lannister army made up of troops that Cheryl spawned in the pits of Mordor.

Oh and Highgarden looks even worse than Casterly Rock. The lands around it don’t even look beautiful and fertile.

Oh look and D&D said that Tyrells are crap fighters and so they are. Why? And where on earth are the rest of them?

So if we were to honeypot that Tarly took over 90% of the Tyrell soldiers with him, and made them all dress as Lannisters for some reason? No, still doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense.

And what happened to Olenna’s desire to see Cersei/Cheryl fall? And how did she teleport from Dragonstone to Lowgarden so quickly, and so pointlessly. Not a great Cleopatra impersonation either.

What a terrible episode filled with some of the worst contrivances, writing, plotting possible. That critics continue to praise the Emperor’s new clothes to high heaven beggars’ belief.

LOL  Would it be too forward if I said:  I LOVE YOU!!!

Ha!!  I love it all, but reading this did remind me........who the hell picked up Theon?  I'm guessing that was the itty bitty surviving bit of Yara's IB fleet?  I'm only guessing because Theon seemed to think he should explain where Yara was, and it wasn't his fault, HA, and the IB didn't kill him.  Eh, whatever, I guess it just means the Ds have something else they need Theon for?  Or, is it Reek?  Why do we need a Reek if we are finally free of Ramsey?

Don't mind my silly questions.....I'll just reread your list for clarity.

Theon is on his way back to his book story, whatever that is.  He's soon to be out of his long show detour.  He will meet Jon and then pop up somewhere in the North and do whatever he's going to do after Stannis doesn't kill him.  Same for "Yara"...it's possible she could eventually be Euron's prisoner...but more probable that she will escape and do whatever she does in the books.

Hey you have a point.  Yara is now hostage w Euron instead of Stannis, and Theon is parallel with his jump over the walls of WF, although........hmmmmm, maybe they both SHOULD have wound up with Euron, like both are with Stannis now in the beginning of TWOW........but then, that would make their new super villian look as foolish as he sounds on tv, right?  LOL  I'd say.....I think I get it now, but I am just dizzy.  I guess I better avoid all those new maps, I already have whiplash.

HAHA.  Those maps are great!  They almost spurred me on to a serious rant about distances and times, but I just don't care enough anymore.  Maybe Theon will save "Yara" and they will both go North?  Or "Yara" will be alive until Euron dies and then take over?

I doubt we see Theon again this year after his pointless filler encounter w/Jon Snow that is coming.  Not sure about "Yara"....we probably wont' see her again either until next year.

LF's twitter feed is nearly as depressing as Stannis and Doran were.

@mockbird Had a talk with sansa, she said she'll never trust me again. Good beginning. #paradoxallove

@mockbird So happy I need to tell the world how much I love her. #paradoxallove

@mockbird Sansa should rule the seven kingdoms with me at her side ! #bittersweetending #jorahschoolofseduction

@mockbird Perhaps I should have checked Ramsay profile before offering him my future queen to a flayer and rapist. Doesn't seem to have completely forgiven me yet. #latedoubt

@mockbird Being the unsug hero of the battle of the north I was invited to their council. #risinginfluence #northerncouncil

@mockbird Those starks are grateful (if a bit cold). I've bet on the good horse, won't end like the unsung hero of the Blackwater #whatcangowrong #imnottyrion

@mockbird Jon Snow is now king of the North. Made my position on the matter clear by silently looking at Sansa. #northerncouncil #jonsnow #reactionshot

@mockbird My good friend @lordroyce shouted "King of the North" with the others ; my power coming from Robin no reason to worry #whatcangowrong

@mockbird Had a talk with Sansa she ignored me. Making progress. #paradoxallove

@mockbird So happy I need to show the world how much I love her. Let's spend some minutes dreamingly staring at her from a distance. #paradoxallove #reactionshot #notcreepy

@mockbird One day she'll realise the Ramsay wedding was just a little mistake. He was coming from a good family, Who could imagine a Bolton would do harm to a Stark ? #latedoubt #keepinghope

@mockbird I advised her well. She wanted revenge and going home, finally got the two after all.   #keepinghope #imamastermind

@mockbird Staying in the north with my Vale good friend @lordroyce. Good weather at last, feared it could snow. #northtourism

@mockbird I have a plan to become influent in northern court : let's smirk during their councils #northerncouncil #imamastermind

@mockbird Had a talk with Sansa, she walked out and her bodyguard threatened me. Making progress. #paradoxallove

@mockbird Another council. Levelling my smirking skill. I'm really a mastermind. #northerncouncil #reactionshot

@mockbird Lords seem unhappy with their king, is it the moment to finally talk to them ? #risinginfluence #imamastermind

@mockbird Really love those crypts, the marvels of winterfell, visiting them so often I'm feeling at home. #northtourism  #ghostofwinterfell

@mockbird I finally prefered to have a talk with the king, needed to tell him how much I love Sansa and Cat. #jonsnow #paradoxallove

@mockbird My future step brother was a bit cold and strangled me, but looks like a family trait. #whatcangowrong #jonsnow

@mockbird He's definitively Eddard's son. #jonsnow #likefatherlikeson

@mockbird Had a talk with Sansa, she accepted some praise of her ruling skill without slaping me. Love on the way. #paradoxallove #jorahschoolofseduction

@mockbird Still in the north with my Vale good friend @lordroyce. Good weather at last, looks like snow even melted in the courtyard. #northtourism

@mockbird Let's hope it was foreshadowing for Jon Snow's meeting with dragons.

@mockbird Had a talk with Sansa, she politely listened to me if she didn't seem to understand. Progressing again. #paradoxallove

@mockbird Can't blame her, not sure I'm understanding these Sun Tzu quotes myself (also I love her). #paradoxallove #tyrionschoolofrandomelyusingwisemenquotes

@mockbird Sansa's brother came home.Happy for her. It's the one someone tried to kill with "my" dagger. #whatcangowrong #goodmemories

@mockbird Perhaps I should speak to him, he needs to know how much I love Sansa and Cat.

"The thing about writing about show!Bran is that there isn’t much to write about, except Bran’s non-presence as a character in his own story since season three. Season six showed glimmers of improvement, as Bran reacted to some of the things he learned in his flashbacks. He asked to stay longer to watch his father as a child. He sought out additional information. He interacted with Bloodraven and his uncle (though the non-reaction to Hodor’s death was as offensive under the circumstances as it was baffling) like he was an actual person with actual relationships. A lot of that was Isaac Hempstead-Wright giving his all to bring some life to a character whose plot was watching flashbacks.

It’s all the more devastating to see that this season, he’s literally devoid of everything that made him Bran Stark.

This is a character boiled down to pure functionality. He’s empty of everything except exposition and cryptic dialogue. There’s no sense of sacrifice. No sense of struggle. No sense of motivation or desire. Bran touched a tree last season, and the reveal of Jon’s parentage knocked all the character out of him.

I honestly don’t have the words to describe how upsetting I find this. Bran’s storyline has been treated as an inconvenient obligation for a long time, and now it’s culminating with the convenient obliteration of Bran as a character, without much sense that this was a choice Bran made, or that this loss of personhood is a temporary thing that will fade as Bran gains expertise with his powers. The Three-Eyed Raven sure wasn’t as emotionless and disconnected from reality as Bran is right now.

Perhaps worst of all, this decision is anti-empathy. If Bran doesn’t care about anything, not even being reunited with a sister who hasn’t seen him for years and believed him dead for a good part of that time, what’s there to care about in Bran’s character?"

They are so inconsistent. The characters become whatever they want them to become whenever they want them to be come whatever. They don't do the hard work to get them there organically, or even consider why they want them there. They often take them to empty places for no real reason at all.

Extracts from a recent discussion between D&D and Emilia Clarke:

Now Emilia, what is it this time?

Sniff, I heard from friends that in some forums people mock me for my acting skills.

We told you years ago: You were hired not because of your acting but because of your teats and youth, short: for your looks. We also made good on our promise to give you a naked scene in every season, didn’t we?

Sniff, yes you did. But  - will you also give me what I especially asked you for…?

The S&M-scene with Kit? No way. Even if you brought your private black leather dress  and your whip – the answer is still: NO!

Sniff, I am not winning any battles. I should be Queen on the Iron Throne already. That bitch of Lena has a better looking advisor.

How often do we have to tell you: We have to keep the tension high. Next episode we teleport your 100.000 Dothraki and you will win a huge battle.

I still don't know how Cersei knew that the Tyrells linked up with Dany and Dorne to the point of marching on Highgarden. And how did the full Lannister force, march hundreds of miles thru the expanse of the reach and not 1 raven was sent warning the capital? High Garden has no defenses? And if she knew they were coming, why would Olenna wait to die? She wanted revenge.... Cersei killed her family. Why not escape to Dragonstone!? But, again, why did any of this take place?

The Lannisters giving up Casterly Rock, was idiotic. Where did all the inhabitant go? how did they know Tyrian would Attack the rock!? like... Dragonstone is 3 times the distance from Casterly Rock then from Kingslanding. And what was the purpose, you have Dorne and Highgarden who both could march from various direction on Kingslanding. Full fleet should have sailed directly to KL while Dorne and highgarden marched via land. Dany should have had over 130 thousand troops at her disposal with 3 dragons... Like wtf.

Still how do the Lannisters know what Dany is doing so far in advance that they can move ships and troops fast enough to outrun ravens and beacon fires!? This is literally the worse writing ive every seen. Not Writing I guess more like plotting. When is this stuff happening!?

And why is Ellaria even on the fleet on its way to Dorne. Her and all the Sand snakes!? Who's leading in Dorne!? Like there no logic in any of this.

I really wonder, if she's really as poor an actor as she is in the show. I wonder what if the show had better writers would she be better reflected.

The show showed us that Highgarden was full of gold and food.  Olenna, as the remaining member of House Tyrell and the Lady of Highgarden would know this.  Surely she would have made it known to Dany that Highgarden was full of food and gold.  Everyone is Westeros already knows it's full of food as it's been supplying KL for years.

Wouldn't that mean that protecting Highgarden's $$ and supplies would be the #1 most important thing on Dany's agenda?  So she's got a ready source of cash for the war, so she can set up some kind of supply line from Highgarden, either by boat or by land, to supply her army?  Where else is she going to get any food from her Dragonstone HQ?

Isn't this like Strategy 101, safeguard the money and the food?

Instead, they apparently left the QOT with no army, no protections and no ravens to call for help, LOL.

At this point in the show, this stupidity is just a nitpick, but it really makes Dany and all of her advisors including the now dead QOT look like dimwits.
