3.  Cave drawings were a little disappointing.  I haven't read the books, so I don't know what the Children and people of that time did for their runes.  But, those seemed too rudimentary to me (in particular the figures, though the ones of the WW et al at least had blue eyes and more detail).

A few show only people asked about that at my house, I was impressed. Why would the Children ever have been on Dragonstone?

The question would better be why would the Children of the Forest who actually have a culture/religious belief which make them "go into trees" at their end of their life and whose leaders are able to see their whole past make drawings like prehistoric people.

This whole episode was awful. All the fighting scenes are just added to keep the attention from the fact they cannot write the story.

And I am never forgive them for how they treating Bran's storyline.

Jon should have responded "is your pride more important than the end of the world?"

Exactly, also suggested out loud by several people at my house.

Given how many people are expecting Dany and Jon hooking up, almost nobody at my house is buying the chemistry, there just isn't much. Everyone remembers Jon and Ygritte, that was sparky from the first moment. I didn't even know until a long time later they were a thing in real life, they were great on screen.

Dragon was way impressive, highlight of the episode. Dany actually looked a lot more fake on Drogon than Drogon did himself, not a hair on her head ever moved lol.

I hated that Bronn had to be a hero all by himself, just not plausible, hated the saving Jaime at the last second, hated Jaime's cheesy faces during the battle. But, the battle was still pretty dramatic and intense.

Arya and Sansa in the crypt worked better for me than I expected. But not even a question about Rickon?

Arya and Brienne was ridiculous. Sansa being jealous? annoyed? something? looking on was stupid, more fake conflict ahead or something. Littlefinger can't die soon enough, he looks so ridiculous doing nothing.

Bran somehow seeing everything? Even without weirwoods? Is he supposed to be god now? Don't like it.

How did Sansa know all that about Bran and the knife attack? Wasn't she already on her way to KL by then?

Davos is supposed to be another Bronn? His dialogue was so so so cringey. Missandei comes off as robotic, hate it.

Otherwise, probably the most enjoyable episode overall this season, finally, definitely better than the last one which was just sad. Thank you Drogon.

Plot twist: Jon is the one who drew that offscreen in order to fool Dany

like it was mentioned earlier, that creek or whatever was running through the "BADLANDS" that was supposedly Blackwater Rush was made to look 25 - 40 feet deep. What a crock. Also, did Dany's dragons, other dragons not join in for some reason? Usually, they are going along in Drone-Mode.

I forgot about that scene. But, the difference there was Jon arguably didn't have a pride problem, at that moment, and he certainly wasn't asking the wildlings to bend the knee to him personally.

And secondly, he might have pointed out, that this isn't just about fighting for the North, but every living being in Westeros. Would she rather stop them in the North or have to fight them in the Riverlands, the Reach, or around KL?

I think you missed my point.  I'm not saying nor do I think the show is saying it's a matter of his pride.  He's just doing a really bad job of telling her if she wants to lead the North then she's going to have to earn it directly from from the people of the north.  They chose him, so it's not his to give out.  He doesn't want to tell her he was killed the last time he did something for the greater good w/o getting on board, but will probably do so at some point.

So D&D, in the Inside the Episode segment say that this is the first battle in which we are supposed to care about both sides. So in the Blackwater episode, which side were we not supposed to care about? Of course, D&D couldn't have wanted the audience to root against St Tyrion. This just goes to show how much they hated Stannis from the get go and always saw him as a villian. They probably even think that Cersei is more moral and humane than Stannis.

And as others have pointed out, if Dany can get Drogon to aim and fire so accurately, what's stopping her from going to the Red Keep and taking out Cersei and her minions? Well, Lannister plot armor of course. And it seems like the Lannister plot armor has rubbed off on Bronn as well.

They cut too many important characters from the books and are paying for it. Everyone has been so sick of Cersei, books and show for a long while now, hell the Lannsiters in general, always finding a way to hold on to power when it is known that they are the least worth of it. Now though, this show has evolved into a new phase of ridiculousness.

All good points, but especially this. And sadly, it kinda works. This episode makes no more sense than any of the earlier ones, but it was just more fun to watch because of the high budget dragon and the kinetic battle scenes. Who needs writing when you have this escape? It will happen again before this season ends, nonsense plus WOW to distract us.

The worst thing is knowing somehow Cersei will make it to the last fucking episode of the whole show for 'reasons' lol. Already said by many, but I'm soTeam Night King all the way.

Yes on the Stannis hate. I'll never swallow that. Cannot believe we have lost him on season 5.

And Lannister plot armor... damn. I am already predicting Cersei hiring the Golden Company, who will be revealed as the greatest army in the world and will crush the dothraki+unsullied+northerns+wighs and white walkers all combined

Well, it is known that D&D&C, (C is for Cogman) have  hard ons for the Lannisters. They seemingly despise everyone else but them and they have been playing up to make Cersei sympathetic and the incest love with Jaime as the most enduring romance of the show.

In fact, I do believe Cersei will outlive the Night King and be the bigger bad in the end, alongside the Golden Company, one thousans ballistas and whatever other Deus Ex Machina she gets. I will hate to see this final battle if I am indeed right. I just want her mad queen arc from the books ffs. Leave the badassness for Daenerys and Aegon

End of show/Season 8 predictio: Jon,Dany and the North will be able to deal with the White Walkers and then, depleted will have to face Cersei, Euron and the Golden Company for the Iron Throne in the end. If at the end for some convoluted reason, the Imp sits the Iron throne, I will boycott HBO for the rest of my life.

I don't think it's somewhere the Children normally hang out, it's just where they had the alliance negotiations between the Children and the First Men.

And probably that's just because the Last Hero went there to mine dragonglass, exactly as Jon is doing now, so everyone had to come there to meet him.

It's also possible that they'd lost so much of Westeros to the White Walkers by that point that the more obvious meeting places for the First Men-Children alliance negotiations weren't safe, but that's less compelling.

At any rate, I think the show is collapsing multiple separate locations from the books, so if there's a similar scene in the books, it probably won't be on Dragonstone.

"Your people don't know how to fight!"

Yea my people are outnumbered 10 to 1 and on top of that they have to deal with a friggin deus ex machina dragon that is literally the only reason why you even manage to break through our lines whereas 300 years later you lot still think charging in headfirst against a spear wall is a smart battle tactic despite your defeat at Qohor!

That's easy.

Bronn, his first time ever touching the scorpion, was able to hit Drogon in the shoulder and knock him out of the sky. Cersei, who's just as much an artillery specialist as him (that is, not at all) has already had at least one practice shot, so presumably she could nail Drogon right in the eye and kill him.

Also, does Cersei have minions? Is there ever anyone in the Red Keep besides Cersei, her brother Jaime, her brother's bro Bronn, and that one mini-me maid?

I agree completely, that they cut too many characters & Lannisters being a threat is ridiculous.

But paying for it??  I hate to run to D&D's defense, but not even GRRM can figure out how his AFFC/ADWD characters tie in with the story.  I'd like to see it, and I think it will make an epic tale, but all evidence points to the fact GRRM has bitten off more than any one person can chew - in fact, an eighth book is not only looking likely - but necessary IMO.

Man if we could just get one scouting party or advanced lookout, or even some farmer on a hill to warn anyone of giant armies or navies approaching, id be happy.

Was this the 4th ambush this season by an army who you should have known was coming for at least one day if you had scouted correctly?
