Lannister Army will fight for...??

Recommended Posts

So in the season Finalle we saw Jaime gathering all the Lannister bannermen and preparing them for the "expedition north".  Cersei flat out prohibided him into taking any action and she said she that her armies with the boost of the Golden Company will take back the remaining kingdoms who are not under her rule. That must mean the Stormlands, the Dorne, Dragonstone and maybe the Vale.

House Lannister's army in my estimation is divided in:

●Kings Landing. The main force, guarding the Queen, getting ready for a possible siege.

●Westerlands. Although Casterly Rock was a bait with minimum defence Jaime himself said that a considerable amount of Lannisters are in Westerlands waiting to be deployed to the North

●Riverrun. It's pretty stupid to occupy a castle and not leave a garrison army behind. Remember the Lannister sigils alongside the Fray's last season??

●Highgarden. Same as the above.

Jaime is the head Commander of the Lannister armies but Cersei outranks him being the FOOKIN QUEEN. So who do the Lannister armies follow??

I think that D&D will go for the "United Westerosi armies Vs The army of the Dead". So I see Jaime taking command of the Lannisters in Riverrun and Westerlands and Cersei having the Golden Company do her biding  (sacking Sunspear or Dragonstone, that would be cool) and being the "Villain army". We may see the garisoned Lannisters in KL defending her but I think the G.C. will be her primary force. Alongside Euron' s armda of course.

Just curious, was Ed Shereen's merry bunch of lanisters on the way to Riverun/Twins or were they called back from there? I can't remember which they said but I remember the reason was because Arya had killed the Frey's so people were in panic mode.

Remember Theon is on his way to rescue Yara. Personally I think he (or most likely Yara) will take control of the Iron fleet cause all you have to do to get loyalty in kill the commander. They will then have the GC under their control. Cersei will go mad queen when she finds out she has no army, and Jamie will kill her and take control of the remaining forces. Boom Westeros vs. the undead. There will probably be a bit more details involved but that is what I think the show is gearing up to happen.

I think Cerseis time is limited. My prediction would be episode one of season 8 for her to kick the bucket.

Either Jaime, Theon or her pregnancy will kill her and then I'm guessing Jaime will just use the chaos to grab the forces and take them to where the action is at that time (doesn't have to be North. White Walkers move super slowly but maybe they gain speed in warmer parts.)

I hope Yara / Asha and Theon take control of the fleet. I'd like that.

Good question about Sheeran. I don't remember either.

I am not sure about what Jaime will do now... He left there like he is leaving alone, he had no escort and he hid his golden hand, but what can he do alone ? What help he could offer as a cripple warrior ? In his prime, a talented swordsman like him could help them, but he is even less than a proper knight right now. So it would be stupid for him to ride north alone and join their ranks, it wouldn't change anything but pledging loyalty to the alliance but then he needs to explain why the Lannister army isn't with him, so I don't think he will expose Cersei's real plans either.

Northmen, knights of the vale wouldn't respect him, nor dothraki, so he couldn't even be useful as a politician or a commander in the war.

Only logical thing for him to do is gathering the loyal Lannister bannermen in Westerlands who will only follow him not Cersei, I think he can gather at least 1.000 men and sellswords, and that's better than nothing. Or he can free Edmure and gather the river lords together by using him, join the war with them. But I don't think that's going to happen.

And I don't think he will expose Cersei's real plans to the Dany and Jon, he doesn't want to see Cersei dying either, so I am not sure what he will do.

I feel like an entirely different thing will happen.

When S8 starts Jaime will just show up at Winterfell alone and the two guards who didn't know who Arya was will have wisened up and believe he is who he says he is, and take him to everyone who are meeting for the 8 billionth time about nothing in the great hall.  Sansa or Arya will want to have him killed, Jon will be all like "THERE IS NO TIME FOR THAT, WE NEED EVERY MAN IN WESTEROS IF WE ARE TO DEFEAT THE NIGHT KING, REMEMBER I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS FOUGHT HIM" and so they'll decide not to kill Jaime.  Like two episodes later they'll have Varys or Tyrion get him on a one-on-one and they'll finally mention "hey dude, where is the rest of your army" and he'll be like "Cersei played us" and they'll be like "so you are no longer fighting for Cersei?" with a real inquisitive and sort of judging tone of voice, then Jaime will be all curt and pissed off like and will say "I fight for the living, ALL living."

Somehow they won't ask Bran how he feels about Jaime being around, or if they do Bran will just stare into the fire and be like "It doesn't matter, I am the three eyed raven now."  I feel like I'd have a few more things to say about the man who crippled me, especially if he was sorry, but hey Bran do your thing.

Hah. Excellent. Sounds exactly like the kind of shit writing D&D deliver us weekly. You've nailed their style.

"Also you two were beautiful in that tower"

Joke aside, seeing how he covered his hand, I think he is going to the front line incognito. Without anyone knowing who he is. I'd say that is totally his character.

But you know, someone uncovers the truth at some point and then that what we joked about happens :D

But yea, I am intrigued on seeing how they tackle the lack of Lannister support up there in the North, probably too late to care/do something about it? NK already passed the wall after all.

Logical way for him would be:

* Go direct to Riverrun. Take control (have Ed become the castellan for all I care) as the headless Freys probably would be glad to not be slaughtered by Tully loyalists still around (ideal plot device would be finding  and reinstating Edmure Tully). Take Lannister forces from the area North (no split loyalties there) while promising pardons etc. to Freyless Frey forces and bannermen if they bend the knee to House Tully.

* Go to Twins and garrison them with Tully - Freyless forces.

* Take all available Lannister forces with him before Cersei wakes up to his intents. She may go the paranoid way and believe he is taking armies to overthrow her - so spoil her plans.

Bran probably will not be vengeful if he sees Jaime as committed to the cause. Heck, by crippling him he enabled the 3EC. Rest of the Starks would be though.

Since Cersei is the head of house lannister the lannister bannermen will follow her. But maybe Jaime will go into the twins and marry a heiress and take the frey forces north?

Considering she didn't tell them, just Jamie, I would assume they would follow Jamie if he said let's go. Having said that, I could see him going with a bit of an army and helping out, the main characters slay most of the army and it looks like they are winning but they have been pushed down to King's Landing. Then the army of the dead is reinforced by the many in King's Landing and the city is overrun by the people Cersie rules but doesn't care about. She burns great parts of the city to defend herself, and then wants to burn Jon, Dany and large swaths of their armies but Jamie stops her, knowing if they die, then they are all doomed. He strangles her as the dead pour in and uses wildfire to destroy the Great Hall (maybe the entire Red Keep?) killing himself in the process.
