Listening to the recently-released recording of David Bowie at the Glastonbury Festival in 2000. It is a great live recording.

Seconded.

And before that was released I was listening to Queen Rock Montreal quite a bit.

I had a very nice experience last weekend listening to Wilco's A Ghost Is Born all the way through for the first time in years.  I've been quite disappointed by a few of their more recent efforts, but this was from their best era.

A few favorites:

At Least That's What You Said

Hell is Chrome (bizarre how hard it is to find good live versions of this one)

Theologians

The Late Greats

Yeah, I'm finding the older stuff is 'better' to my ears.

I accompanied my work today with different soundtracks of games I'm playing at the moment. Which... come to think of it, is not at all helpful.

I'm still utterly stunned by Alina's boss battle theme in Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Record:

What a kickass villain theme! I can imagine it right in the Madoka Magica Anime in a penultimate battle scene at the end of a movie.

And this is from a freaking Mobile Game! XD

This is going to be a tense Christmas Event... :o

Indeed for a movie, but for a game or to help working, this is so tense! (though good) :P

I've been relistening to the last tracks of Kesha's last album from last year, to be precise this one:

Spoiler

"Learn To Let Go"

Been a prisoner of the past
Had a bitterness when I looked back
Was telling everyone it's not that bad
'Til all my shit hit the fan

I know I'm always like
Telling everybody you don't gotta be a victim
Life ain't always fair, but hell is living in resentment
Choose redemption, your happy ending's up to you

I think it's time to practice what I preach
Exorcise the demons inside me
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go
The past can't haunt me if I don't let it
Live and learn and never forget it
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go

Had a boogieman under my bed
Putting crazy thoughts inside my head
Always whispering, "It's all your fault"
He was telling me "No, you're not that strong"

I know I'm always like
Telling everybody you don't have to be a victim
Life ain't always fair, but hell is living in resentment
Choose redemption, your happy ending's up to you

So I think it's time to practice what I preach
Exorcise the demons inside me
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go
The past can't haunt me if I don't let it
Live and learn and never forget it
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go

Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Learn to let go, learn to let go
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Learn to let go, learn to let go

I'm done reliving my bad decisions
I see now maybe there's a reason
Why, I, I, I, I, I, I been through hell and back
Yeah, honestly, it's what made me who I am
Holding on to wasted time
Gotta learn to let go in life

So I think it's time to practice what I preach
Exorcise the demons inside me
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go
The past can't haunt me if I don't let it
Live and learn and never forget it
Whoa, gotta learn to let it go

Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Learn to let go, learn to let go
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Hey-eh-eh-eh, yeah
Learn to let go, learn to let go

I love the message and the vitality. Of course, since she is my age, it's actually nostalgic to see the video recordings. Love the colors of the clothes as well and the way the videoclip is made with just a few elements.

She kind of surprised me last year because I had never been into her songs, too much commercial and absurd for my taste, but the last album was more adult, showing that she can actually sing very well and it be meaningful despite the majority of it still being pop (like this one).

The White Album 50th anniversary issue, which I bought mainly for the Esher demos.  I'm not terribly interested in hearing a rough demo of Glass Onion; I am mainly interested in hearing the demos for the Harrison songs- not just While My Guitar Gently Weeps but also the ones that didn't make it, like Not Guilty and Sour Milk Sea.

Went to a concert Tuesday, daughter bought us the tickets dirt cheap otherwise I wouldn't have gone. Three Days Grace and Disturbed. The whole time TDG was playing it just didn't sound right to me. Then there was a song where the lead singer goes all the way around the main floor, high fiving people and so on, and on the last leg he is running about a hundred feet and the vocals never took a hit, sounded the same. Then as he got to the curtain his microphone was at his hip and yet the vocals were still going. Pissed me right off and made me realize why it all sounded funny. I guess it's a new lead singer and he didn't know all their old stuff or his voice can't handle it because the couple new songs they did that were his sounded better. Pretty disappointing to say the least.
