Julien Baker rules. She can do no wrong.

Be sure to check out her supergroup/side project boygenius too. (ETA: as first recommended by Mr. X. I need to start reading things more closely).

Thanks!  Will try to check all of this out.

Switching gears, you know, The Strokes were overrated at one point.  But the pendulum might have swung back to underrated.

I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station
Running scared,
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places
Only they would know...

Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
But I get no offers
Just a come-on from the whores
On Seventh Avenue
I do declare
There were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there, le le le

Then I'm laying out my winter clothes
And wishing I was gone
Going home
Where the New York City winters
Aren't bleeding me
Leading me
Going home

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains.

I'm slowing beginning to appreciate just how good the new apparat album is.

These new puritans latest LP has be retrospectively wondering why i didn't love them previously.

American football is like some emo/prog rock hybrid. As if Jimmy eat world and pink Floyd were the only bands they ever listened to.

Along with others of his masterpieces including the alan parsons project & dio, megadeth metalica & Who, marvin....

Strangely, the social unity we lack in real life is found here.

Also,

Doll Revolution, the Bangles.  (Stealing Rosemary, Good Son, ...)

The Gloaming.

I do some woodland/lakeland walks nearby.

When I have these guys on my headphones it turns into a mystical experience.

High end trad Irish.

Spot on, Paul!

My favourite band of all time. Weller was and is an absolute fucking genius!

I must ask, young grasshopper, are you just now discovering this?  If so, tell your humble ape, and I shall impart upon you wisdom.

Absorbing the new Vampire Weekend album.  Mixed feelings overall, but I think one of the lead singles This Life is quite infectious.

New record from The National this Friday.
