I was critical of Swansea’s appointment of Carvalhal but he’s managed a last gasp win away from home in his first game in charge. It might just be another ‘new manager bounce’ but at least they got the bounce from the new manager. WBA are still waiting for something to happen under Pardew.

Only five points between bottom and 13th. Pity the title race isn’t as interesting as the relegation battle.

Didn’t get to see the Chelsea game because stupid UK TV Saturday 3pm fixtures black out, but another three points to keep our decent run of form going. Looking at the Stoke side that started today, anything but a win would have been shameful.

Allardyce must think he’s auditioning to replace Mourinho after he slinks off to PSG.

The closest Allardyce will get to Old Trafford will be as the opposition manager. Don't see us making the same fuck up as we did with Moyes. Also be surprised if PSG appoint Mourinho. Given the player power there, I doubt Neymar and Mbappe would be too happy about playing as auxiliary fullbacks whenever PSG come up against one of Europe's big boys. Any half decent manager could win Ligue 1 with that PSG squad, even Sam Allardyce.

Yeah, Chelsea smashed a weak Stoke team that rested a lot of players despite being in terrible form.  A walk in the park for Chelsea, and no downside to resting Hazard.  They’re a bit lucky to have such a soft game today and two days additional rest before playing Arsenal, and they have a soft FA Cup game against Norwich.

Liverpool have Leicester and Burnley within 48 hours, followed by a game against Everton.   It’s a tough run but the intensity ebbs later in January.

Good win for Swansea.  That squad still looks very weak, as does Newcastle, but even a small amount of improvement or competent management could save a team when it’s so congested at the bottom.

How the hell do Chelsea score 5 goals and Morata, playing as a lone striker, doesn’t even get a bloody assist? Ffs.

What can I say? We get goals from everywhere!

Lucky I’ve kept Salah as captain, as Spurs aren’t in this gameweek so no points for Harry Kane.

I watched the brilliant Harlequins-Northampton rugby game, then, lacking alternative entertainment, watched the ManU-Saints game. Now I remember why I don't follow football anymore.

Still, it was quite funny in its ineptitude.

Wow, that was dire - flashbacks to LVG all over again. This has not been a good month for us. Can't wait to be bored to death on Monday as well. It feels like this month has signaled an early beginning to the Mourinho meltdown. There seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding the club at the moment that you'd think we were in the bottom half of the table or something. It seems that Mourinho's constant whinging and all round sour demeanor has infected the players - they don't look to be enjoying themselves out there.

I would luv a United meltdown on Monday. Luv it!

Oh, wait, that didn’t work last time...

Anyway, I think we’ll struggle come Monday. Probably rotate our CBs, but keep Schneiderlin (who has ranged from competent to awful this year), Martina (because, what’s the alternative?) and Lennon (IDK why. He tracks back?). We’ll lay low, hoof it towards DCL and pray for a miracle. At the other end, Mourinho will have his team misfire.

I may elect to watch paint dry.

The hoofball on Monday has the potential to be epic. Both backlines hoofing the ball up to the lone striker. If Lukaku isn't able to make the game, we might just look to string a few passes together. Oh, and Mkhi should be nowhere near the starting XI atm. Can't believe that he turned out to be this useless; we might as well be playing with 10 men.

Regarding Mkhi's current awful form, I think José was wrong to play him left winger yesterday. I'd rather play him on the right wing, where he can cross with his right foot without being forced to slow down his runs.

Of course, that's not only a matter of tactics, but mostly a matter of confidence. IMO, confidence is what this United team lacks the most...

Nike hint at Coutinho move to Liverpool.

Is it a hint, an extension of Barca’s tapping up, or just a genuine ‘error’ from a Nike employee?

Ugh I’ve accepted he’s gone but it would be beyond stupid to sell him in January. As long as we wait till summer it’s whatever.

City will probably still win this game but they haven’t been thaaat great last couple weeks without David Silva. He’s so important to their team.

Mkhi has been shit no matter where he's played (left, right or #10). He can't even do the basics right anymore. Confidence, or lack thereof, is a factor but I think the biggest problem is that Mourinho's constant and increasing whinging, negativity (both in his comments as well as his tactics) and all round sour demeanor is having an adverse effect on the players - this should all look very familiar to Chelsea fans. At the end of the day, Mourinho's tactics are outdated and he has failed to adapt. At this point we aren't playing any better than we did under LVG.

It does look very familiar. Man United’s recent uninspiring performances, the lack of confidence and belief amongst the players and Jose’s post match press conferences where he chooses to make excuse after excuse is exactly what began to happen around the time he was sacked in the 2015/2016 season. Of course, Chelsea were languishing near relegation back then; Man United are sitting third.

The problem is up until the end of September they were in the title race. While Man City have gone on a record breaking run, Man United have slipped further away, dropped to third, and are no longer even certs to finish top four given the form of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.

The point I became disillusioned with him was when I began to think everything he said in interviews was ridiculous, and that’s what he is doing at the moment. This recent obsession with Guardiola’s spending is both petulant and hypocritical.

Mourinho once accused Arsene Wenger of being a ‘specialist in failure’. Jose Mourinho is now a ‘specialist in excuses for failure’.

Oh wow Palace really should have won that. Missed Pen and Townsend had a clear chance that he should have easily buried.

Zaha is really fucking good. Wonder when/if he will move to one of the top 6.

Sucks to see Jesus and De Bruyne go off injured. Hopefully the De Bruyne injury isn’t as bad as it looked. Pretty gross tackle from Puncheon.

Palace should have won that. They've now fluffed two crucial late penalties. At least they showed more ambition right from the get go than United ever did against City.

ETA. we should consider recalling TFM. He has been much better than Darmian this season.

Shocking tackle. Pretty strange to see the tackler also go off in a stretcher too.

It looked like the medics were putting De Bruyne’s leg in some kind of brace. Would that suggest that it could be a bone injury? Maybe fraction or break.
