Westeros M2:TW mod

Im not sure which quote you are talking about. Page 794 of AGoT has Marq Piper talking about joining Renly because he already has 5 of the 7 great houses, " Six if the Arryns bestir themselves. Six, against the Rock!"

Can you give me an idea of what he said and I will find it. I know I didnt quote anything from that part of the series in the quotes I did although I almost included the part of the Greatjons speech when he proclaimed Robb the King in the North.

Chewie said he had some quotes too but I hvent seen them and have no idea what his are. I am sure some are the same as mine and some arent.

He doesnt send Catelyn until the first part of the next book.

I like the idea of emphasizing the political aspects of the game by making the unit replacement process more realistic (i.e. slower)... but will the political AI hold up under the strain and increased focus? Or will we be instead emphasizing a weak point in the game model?

On a separate note... you bastards finally made me break down and buy the game. :) Maybe after this weekend I'll be able to provide some better input. ..

On the Ashford issue, I'd go with making it a town. Apparently towns have walls... so it would effectively encompass both feature sets...

So... where do things stand now? Is there more to be done on the city/castle designations, or is this effectively done for now (with the ability to update a few as necessary later)? What else can we start working on?

Names. We need a list of names for each faction. First and surnames.

For example, take the Stark list:

First;

Male:

Eddard

Benjen

Jon

Robb

Rickon

Roose

Jojen

Jeor

etc

Female:

Sansa

Ayra

Catelyn

Dacey

Maege

etc

Last:

Stark

Bolton

Karstark

Reed

Cassel

Manderly

Flint

Dustin

etc

As many as possible for each fation. Any questions?

Edit: I said by faction, but it will go by region. Any areas included in the Stark faction will have to be put into the Stark name roster. So all bannerhouses, their family, etc.

And you're not looking for any sort of organization within each region? So... you just need all first names associated with the North, and all last names associated with the North, regardless of how the first and last names associate with each other?

... wierd. I'm assuming that this has to do with a randomly generating first and last names by region? If this is the case, then you'd want to include all the historical first and last names as well... 'cause there's lots of great names in the historical record (for example, there's a list of historical Starks here...notice the Theon Stark. :)

Yes. For rebels who pop up, adoptions, marriages, etc. Anything that still exists. Don't use extinct names. So for Lannister, don't include Tarbeck or Reyne. For Joff, don't include Darklyn, but include Darke, etc.

I expect there to be a massive list of first names, and small lists of last names.

I would stick to first names for random characters... and use bastard last names (or no last names at all). The reason being that we already know the names of the characters in the major houses. There may be some second sons or such that we're not familiar with, but that's only in the more minor families.

I guess my concern is that we'd be playing the game, and some random character shows up with the last name 'Stark', or 'Lannister'. It'd break the continuity, 'cause we know the Starks and Lannisters. Same goes for the Boltons. Aside from Roose and his bastard Ramsay, there aren't any Boltons about.

However, a Ser Theon, Ser Tyrion, or the like might be more acceptable. Another possibility for last names is a collection of epithets or styles... like "of White Harbor" or "the Tall". Location names could be done regionally, to give full random names like "Maribald of the Saltpans", or "Tyrek of Ashemark". Keeps the ASOIAF feel, but without introducing new figures into well-known houses.

We have to include the last names of the major houses. All characters (generals and family members, too!) draw from this pool. So if we don't include "Stark" none of the Starks would have the surname Stark... Captains only ever have first names, unless you adopt them, then a last name is added.

Here's a list of the minimum population, maximum population, and population required to upgrade to next level for each of the settlement types in VANILLA:

village base="400" upgrade="400" min="400" max="1500"

town base="400" upgrade="2000" min="400" max="3500"

large_town base="2000" upgrade="6000" min="400" max="9000"

city base="6000" upgrade="12000" min="400" max="18000"

large_city base="12000" upgrade="24000" min="400" max="36000"

huge_city base="24000" min="400" max="72000"

motte_and_bailey base="400" upgrade="0" min="400" max="1500"

wooden_castle base="400" upgrade="0" min="400" max="3500"

castle base="1500" upgrade="4500" min="400" max="9000"

fortress base="4500" upgrade="9000" min="400" max="13500"

citadel base="9000" upgrade="18000" min="400" max="18000"

Now for ASOIAF:

village base="400" upgrade="550" min="400" max="1500"

town base="550" upgrade="3000" min="550" max="3500"

large_town base="3000" upgrade="15000" min="1000" max="15000"

city base="15000" upgrade="40000" min="2500" max="18000"

large_city base="40000" upgrade="80000" min="4000" max="70000"

huge_city base="80000" min="6000" max="144000"

motte_and_bailey base="400" upgrade="3000" min="400" max="4500"

wooden_castle base="3000" upgrade="6000" min="1000" max="7500"

castle base="6000" upgrade="14500" min="2000" max="10000"

fortress base="14500" upgrade="40000" min="4000" max="25000"

citadel base="40000" upgrade="180000" min="5000" max="78000"

As you can see, Fortress and Citadel as well as Huge City can never be reached in game.
