Lollys Stokeworth's Rape

Black Dragons

It might have been too late for moon tea- it seems to me that Lollys has given birth to a full-term baby boy, 7 months after the rape.

That the rape, like the whole riot, had been set up by Petyr Baelish to 'fix' various Gold Cloaks that didn't get with the Slynt/Baelish program,  Ser Preston Greenfield who could be replaced with a Kettleblack, which would better suit Petyr Belish, and should never have taken a fancy to the wife of a draper that did business with Petyr Baelish. Aaron Santagar could, if questioned, confirm a certain dragonbone dagger never did belong to Petyr Baelish, before he was got rid of.

Tyrek's wife might have a competing claim to the Rosby inheritance (competing with the Stokeworth claim, that is), but without a Lannister husband to defend her rights, her case is materially weaker. The crown of the High Septon had valuable jewels, and Baelish wanted a new High Septon.

When it comes to who the father of Lollys's baby is, my bet is he is another plant of Petyrs, a sellsword dressed up in Lannister colours, guarding the Queen's Ballroom. Like the Kettleblacks, both Cersei and Tyrion imagine this man is their own creature, but the truth is, Bronn would still be with the Dothraki or in the disputed land, if he hadn't been paid by Petyr Baelish to tail Lady Catelyn. That is why a man of his talent travelled in the opposite direction to the melee and the big pot of prize money, heading into the hills to fight the Mountain Clans and Ser Vardis Egen.

That is why Bronn is not worried about Lollys's bastard. He had already done the deed before Tyrion declined the stuffed goose Lady Tanda was offering him as a suitor. The rapists were no random mob, any more than the mob that attacked the High Septon were. Most probably a selection of Goldcloaks and antler standover men, the kind who stuff bakers who don't pay their extortion into their own ovens. Bear in mind too, that the expensive food that is coming in to Kings Landing is mostly coming from Rosby. The purpose for Lollys rape is, to lower her marriage prospects, to the degree where Lady Tanda would be happy to settle for a recently knighted sellsword, rather than the Queens own brother.

And that is why Lollys did not want to go to the Queens feast, because the one man who truly terrified her was there. He would be guarding the King's own throne room at the Royal Wedding, too. I think Shae is a Baelish plant also, hence her being 'discovered' for Tyrion by Bronn. Lady Tanda's is a hotbed of intriguing antler man Renly/Baelish loyalists, and there is a tunnel from the red keep that ends up in poor Lollys's bedroom, which is the real reason she is being drugged to a coma - so that she has no knowledge of who comes and goes through it. Shae does though.

Lollys was a virgin in her thirties with no prospects being dim-witted and very overweight. Her mother was desperate to hook her up with someone and was hounding Tyrion obsessively.

Her mom probably considered that this might be her only chance at a grandkid given that for all of the strikes against Lollys, there were now more.

oh that is good point Thanks

The active ingredients of "moon tea" seem to be mainly pennyroyal and tansy.  These are actual herbal abortifacient (alone or in combination), that have been used since medieval times.  They are neither 100% effective nor 100% safe, and the more effective you try to make them (by upping the dose) the less safe you make them.  Tansy and pennyroyal are both toxic; or at least potentially toxic in high doses.

Unwanted pregnancies exist in the real world, notwithstanding the existence of this remedy, and notwithstanding other (and I suppose better) remedies that are now available thanks to modern medicine.  No particular explanation is required for unwanted pregnancies in Westeros.  They presumably exist for all the reasons that they exist in the real world.

The point of moon tea in Westeros is more to keep pregnancies a secret than it is just to abort unwanted children. Everyone knew Lollys had been raped by the mob anyway.

Wouldn't it be a possibility to give Lollys moon tea and then simply say she miscarried?
