All seems set for Steven Gerrard's appointment.

If nothing else, his appointment at Rangers would likely spark a little more interest in the Scottish Premiership from outside of Scotland, at least until the first Old Firm.

It would also be interesting to see Gerrard coming up against his old boss Rodgers in opposite dug-outs. Gerrard has always spoken extremely highly of Rodgers and his man-management style. I think he said if Rodgers had come to Liverpool earlier in Gerrard's career, he believed they would have had genuine success. It would bring along the old 'master and apprentice turned rivals' narrative sub-plot to the Old Firm Derbies.

More on Buvac:

Quote

Bosnian journalist Haris Mrkonja has suggested that reports linking Zeljko Buvac with a move to Arsenal are wide of the mark - and hinted the Liverpool assistant’s departure is associated to a family illness.

"Željko #Buvac has apparently been spending a lot of time in Banja Luka, BiH lately. His visits are related to his father's illness, per sources. Rumours about being #Wenger successor may not be accurate. I'm digging though.. stay tuned. "

Our squad against Roma.Gomez is out,Lallana in:

Quote

Liverpool squad: Karius, Clyne, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Henderson, Klavan, Moreno, Mane, Lallana, Mignolet, Robertson, Ings, Solanke, Jones, Ward, Woodburn, Masterson, Camacho, Alexander-Arnold.

Real are so bad at times.

ETA: Heh, Real have had about 2 good minutes out of 20, Bayern have been all over them for the rest, but they managed to score a good goal in that period.

You'd think Alaba or Kimmich will pick someone out at some point if they keep getting this much space though.

Bayern are causing Real lots of problems down the left with Alaba and Ribery. Too bad Robben got injured so early in the 1st leg and hasn't made this game. Having him and Kimmich down the right would have really stretched Real's fragile defence. Hummel's has looked off the pace so far.

Horrible back pass and the keeper didn't cover himself in glory either. Bayern shooting themselves in the foot.

 Bloody hell Bayern have thrown a very winnable tie away.

James makes it interesting. This is a great game. Defending not so good from either side but that is making it very entertaining.

Ribery overplays a bit too often. Numerous times Bayern players have made good runs and an early pass would have set up a great scoring opportunity but Ribery just keeps his head down and dribbles until he's dispossessed.

Great effort from Bayern. That comical second goal tonight and those missed opportunities in the 1st half of the 1st leg have cost them a tie they should have won based on the balance of play.

So Liverpool (most likely) and Real in the final. Liverpool's front three could have a lot of joy against this defence. Real would feel the same against Liverpool's defence. The big challenge for Liverpool will be gaining a foothold in midfield. If they can win balls in midfield and release early passes, they should be good for at least a couple of goals.

Well that was a million times better than the first leg. Thought Bayern were probably the better team over the two games but missed way too many chances. Could feel a little hard done by not getting that pen at the end of the first half as well

Real Madrid well outplayed but get through to the final by virtue of a refereeing howler.

Only surprise is neither Ronaldo or Lewandowski scored.

Credit has to go to Bayern for playing so well without Neuer, Boateng, Alaba, Vidal, Martinez, Robben and Coman from at least some of the tie out of what would have been their starting xi.

A poor back pass, a goal keeping howler and poor finishing cost them more than the referee.

All of those cost them equally. Had any one gone right, Bayern would be in the final. It wasn’t Çakir’s error but the official behind the goal who had the perfect view. Thought he did much better than most who have been to the Bernabeu for big European nights.
