do remember a theory where it’s not Robert’s head but Robb Stark’s head. Joffrey did make a request for the head to be sent to King’s Landing...

Stark meant strong, right? And Robb is named after Robert. Not so outlandish after all.

Places to visit in later Dunk and Egg stories:

Raventree Hall

Oldtown

Winterfell

Sapphire Isle

They already visited Oldtown before, though off pages. Maester Aemon measured Dunk's height, and he was an inch short of seven feet. And he also gave them a mule, as a present, and they named that mule Maester.

They were on the way to Winterfell, in the beginning of The Mystery Knight, but Dunk decided to go to Whitewalls, to eat at the wedding feast, and to get some money by winning in Tournament. The main reason why they had to make that detour, is because they were very short on money, and food. But in the end of that novel, Egg borrowed lots of money from Bloodraven, so they could have continued to go forth to Winterfell, as they planned.

Visit to Sapphire Isle probably will be when Egg will be King, and Dunk Lord Commander of Kingsguards. Probably it will be either during one of Blackfyre Rebellions, or when rebelled Lyonell Baratheon, and Dunk had to duel with him, and then married Princess Rhaelle to Lyonell's son Ormund.

Though with GRRM's current pace of writting, I don't think that we will EVER read another book from Dunk & Egg series. :crying:

What about Raventree Hall? Isn’t Egg’s wife a Blackwood?

Yes, his wife was Betha Blackwood. Though seems that it isn't necessary for them to go to Raventree Hall, to meet Betha, because one of Betha's relatives (Melantha Blackwood, Lyanna's great grandmother) probably her cousin, or sister, was Lady of Winterfell, at the time when Dunk and Egg went there. So could be that Egg has met Betha in Winterfell, years prior their marriage. Or not. Maybe they have met thru Bloodraven, because his mother was Blackwood. So maybe it was him, who introduced Egg and Betha. Though maybe we will never find out, which is it, because work on D&E isn't GRRM's priority.

I agree.  Egg doesn't have to go to Raventree to meet Betha.  He could meet her anywhere.  If Egg is in the North, than maybe we will learn more about historical Starks.

I have an outlandish theory that the Blackwoods are important to the endgame.  Right now the descendents of the Blackwoods are the Starks, Baratheons and Targs.  Jon, Arya, Sansa, Rickon, Bran, Dany, Shireen, Edric, Mya, Gendry, and Stannis has Blackwood blood in their veins. The Blackwoods have ties to the North, the Stormlands, the Riverlands and the Iron Throne.

Now I have a little bit of tinfoil; Brynden the Blackwood bastard arranged that marriage and Eggs ascent so a Blackwood would be queen and Brackens can suck it!

That's not a tinfoil at all. After reading The Mystery Knight, I was under impression, that Bloodraven was against Egg and Dunk running wild all over Westeros. So maybe eventually he has chosen a suitable wife for Egg, that was able to ground him. And he arranged that they sort of "accidentally" met each other. Bloodraven was the one who suggested them to keep going to Winterfell, not to Whitewalls. And he also knew, where did they went after Whitewalls. So maybe he intentionally sent Betha there (under pretence of visiting Melantha), to watch over Egg for a bit, and instead they fell in love, or at least liked each other then, and fell in love later.

Possible, but the tinfoil part is BR helped Aegon advance in the succession line after marrying to Betha. Being lowest in the line, nobody would care if he married for love so he is free to marry anyone.

I suspect if it wasn't egg and some other Targ that married a Blackwood then BR would make sure it was him wearing the crown.
