Future of the Riverlands? Is it game over?

Out of all the 7k, the Riverlands is the weakest of them all. But with the right house or people in charge, it could've been the strongest IMO. When the Targaryens fought off the Ironborn, they granted the Kingdom to the Tullys, and since then, they never had 100% support or control. It seems like if anyone anywhere wants to duke it out, they have no problem doing it all over the Riverlands, Everyone else seems like they have a united front (except maybe the Reach ((in recent times)) ).

Harrenhall is a mess. They won't follow the Freys or the Lannister branches. Brackens and Blackwoods are out of the picture too. House Darry is dead. Every other house worth mentioning have been weaken or TKO. Which leaves  only House Mallister, still strong, they would be able to unite the peoples and rule the Kingdom of the Riverlands (maybe)

heh who knows maybe someone from House Mudd can come into the picture.

But with the story is going, I know its probably going to be broken up and absorbed by their neighbors (North, Vale, Westerlands, AND especially the Crownlands). The Crownlands from the Blackwater Rush up are all descended from Riverlands, except Crackclaw Point. While south of the Blackwater Rush are descended from the Stormlands.

The situation doesn't exist in a vacuum. What's happening at the moment is that the Lannisters are enforcing something of a peace and supporting the Freys. On the outside, fAegon is invading Westeros with the intent of re-establishing Targ rule and the Ironborn are attacking in the southwest.

At some point the Lannister army will be drawn into one or both of these conflicts, and with the Freys having half their army in the North they wouldn't be able to hold power. It's possible that the way Jaime has been settling old grievances will allow a more-united Riverlands led by the Blackfish to re-establish the Tully rule under Edmure as a figurehead, or even the Vale sending an army to support Lord Petyr's claims there.

The Riverlands is a very fertile and prosperous region, so its lords should derive considerable revenues.  However, it has no natural frontiers, and its position in the centre of Westeros means that it frequently gets fought over.

Currently, there are no more than a couple of thousand Lannister soldiers to reinforce the Freys.  They face a widespread insurgency, which enjoys the active support of most of the Smallfolk, and the tacit support of most of the gentry and lords, and which has infiltrated Riverrun. The region is a powder keg, which is about to explode.

I do think that prominent Houses are balancing on a loose rope. If there is something new about the War of the Kings, in Martin's world, it may be the toll it had on the big families that rallied behind their kings. Given this, I doubt the riverlands' game is over. There are several Houses there. We may see the minor ones rising up and filling up the bigger ones spots.

The War of Conquest meant the extinction of some old nobility that dated back to First Men era, the Dance of the Dragons resulted in the death of nearly all flying dragons, Bob's Rebellion meant the official end of the Targaryen line. The War of the Kings may also mean the end of several Great Houses and/or the renovation of westerosi political map 'from scratch'.

Throughout the fake history of planetos,  the riverlands have always been the most contested place on the continent due to  location and geography. There is no possible way it could ever be the strongest kingdom because the author wrote it that way. From the mudds, to the hoare's to the durandon's and now the tullys, every ruling house on the trident had fallen
