Beer is for sports, social get-togethers and if I want to read a book.

Cheapish whiskey is for getting plastered.

Nice scotch served neat is for when I want to feel fancy. I’ve still got a third of a $60 bottle I bought for my birthday a few weeks ago. Will Power!!!!!

SoCo 100 proof sure does the trick. I quit that stuff after college.

Soco regular for me, the hell with 100 proof anything.  I can drink all day and be fine but if I take one shot or make a drink with whiskey I get sick within one hour. Absolutely turns my stomach.

Weirdly enough I get absolutely pissed off of a few pints of cider and yet I can have 10 double gin and tonics in a night and be OK. I mean, granted i'm usually dancing and drinking at least some water alongside but a couple of ciders and I'm more than merry lol. Probably a good thing I hardly drink these days :p

wine is gross. 2 posh 4 me

I don't really like beer. Give me all the gin and tonic.

Yes! One thing I love about shitty bar work in a small-ish independent business where there is a pretty relaxed relationship between staff and management is having a say in the weekly spirits order. I’ve been keeping us well stocked in my favourite gins and in gins I want to try. Whitley Neil Rasberry gin with slimline Fever Tree tonic (it MUST be fever tree) lots of ice, a slice of lemon and two raspberries. I’m partial to one (or two...) of them after a long shift.

And I also can’t stand the taste of beer, or lager, or ales, stouts etc. Bleh. Cider is good though. Very good. I try not to drink it too often though because it’s too gassy for me and also I just end up drinking it like fizzy pop so it’s a bit dangerous really

Haha, we posted the same time! But yeah, similar with me, gin (and other spirits too, like vodka, rum, whisky etc) doesn’t do much to me, except maybe leave me feeling a little tipsy by the end of the evening. But if I start on the cider I’m away with the fairies after like an hour or so  probably because I drink too quickly but anywho...

Casino Royale has the best intro music of all the Daniel Craig films.

I don't know if this is unpopular or popular, but it's what I've been listening to recently.  A lot.:

I love her so much, even when she was clearly drugged out.  Like, what's the comparison?  Joplin and Winehouse?  As to the latter, fuck that noise.  For the former, k, totally different though.

This is usually an unpopular opinion : I only really like continental lager. Can't stand real ale, stout or cider.

I was never a particular fan of hers but god what a talent.  Her decline was  terrible to watch.  Such a waste.

I like how you quoted me as saying "Whitney Houston" when I never actually said Whitney Houston.   That was pretty cool deadlines guy.

They're mostly the same, except dragons usually have 6 limbs (forelimbs, hindlimbs and wings) whereas wyverns have 4 limbs (hindlimbs and wings).

There's no strict rule, since they're not yet proven to exist (don't crush my dreams) but I think the hexapodal dragons look better.

Dragons have four legs and I have proof. GRRM was wrong on that.

Also ...

I don't get what Pulp Fiction is about or what the deal with its supposed greatness is. A friend showed it to me and I thought I was missing out on something fundamental about it ... turns out, nope, not missing anything, it is just completely pointless. Also I hated the depiction of violence in it, so yeah ... I dislike that one.

Ewoks are cute.

The Big Bang Theory  used to be funny, it is only the last few seasons that turned repetitive and boring

I tried watching Mad Men and Hannibal and was bored by both series. With Mad Men, the only charater whom I cared about was Peggy. With Hannibal, I watched two or three episodes and it just looked like they waaaay too hard at being creepy to the point of completely breaking the story. I just didn't believe it.

I didn't care for Floki on Vikings to begin with and went on to hating him after a certain character death.

Football was better in the 70s when the only live game in the season was the FA Cup.

Cricket was better before helmets and one day matches, and when the 12th man brought the drinks on a silver tray while wearing a blazer.

TV was better when we only had three channels.

I don’t like cake.

Bourbon’s only purpose is as a raw material for Scotch barrels.

The US Civil War was actually the second slavelord rebellion.

English food is better than French food.

The Ottoman Empire was not notably hilly.

I -- and many scholars -- will agree with you about the second slavelord rebellion.  After all, the official name in the government archives is "The War of the Rebellion."  A lot us also see this war as the first Revolutionary War as actual systems were changed due to it.

I don't agree with you about the non-hilly Ottoman Empire.  That empire was big and it lasted for a long time and had a LOT of hills. In fact, that's where Osman began -- the HILLS of western Anatolia.  The empire also had lots of mountains and rivers, as well as plains and plateaus.  And languages.

As for the other discussion that matters -- I just brought home with the grocery shopping a very nice bottle of Malbec to go with tonight's pasta and salad.  Keep those nasty gins and tonics.  Though I do understand that in the UK gin has become a Thing again, as has rum (have at least 40 bottles of the good Cuban rum here at home -- it works for good gifts as I don't drink rum, don't even like it, except in Cuba or associated locations).
