I got into it with a hardcore Trump supporting conservative Christian last night on Facebook. He was fervently defending the separation policy, and after I, along with others, had beaten him back into a corner, I finished him by citing a couple dozen biblical quotes about how you should treat strangers with love and respect.

I biblethumped a biblethumper!
I threw the book at him!!

I HAVE TEH POWER!!!

So you won an argument on the internet?

There should be a meme for that.

White House aide Miller targeted in backlash over family separations

President Donald Trump’s former speechwriter has been the architect of his most controversial policies but so far has faced few consequences.

It’s hard to overstate Miller’s influence on the administration’s positions on immigration, according to interviews with a dozen current and former administration officials and Republicans close to the White House. Immediately after signing his executive order Wednesday suspending family separation at the border, Trump took his former campaign speechwriter-turned-immigration czar along for the ride on Air Force One to a rally in Minnesota.

But the backlash over the policy has opened cracks in Miller’s support network on Capitol Hill and among Republicans both inside and outside the White House, who have viewed the separation of migrant families as a huge political and policy misstep for the White House — and, for some, as a moral lapse.

“He led the president down a path that again ended in disaster,” said one Republican congressional staffer. “The Muslim ban and the immigration executive order are things that have activated both sides of the aisle and caused widespread pushback and disgust. I just think the president should think twice before following in his lead in the future on these issues.”

This would be a funny comment if not for the fact that it was made on the internet, on a forum and in a thread that is largely based around winning debates….

The point is it’s always fun to point out to hardcore Christian conservatives that most of their positions are at odds with their religion. It’s almost like they don’t realize that their savior is a liberal hipster socialist Jew.

I got to use Revelation 3:16 on someone the other day, on someone trying to both-sides the toddler concentration camps. It was magnificent.

Spoiler

Revelation 3:16: "Because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I shall spue thee from my mouth."

I am totally aware of the irony. Which among other things disqualifies as POTUS.

Setting aside my contempt for facebook, I imagine the debate you had there as rather pointless even by internet standards. Here we debate and discuss mostly in good faith, it's also most boarders hold a similar opinion on the bigger picture, with a few controversies here and there. But overall there's general acceptance of a better argument. While, I somewhat doubt the same could be said over your facebook argument. I can see the feelgood factor of putting that Trump supporter in his place, but that's about it.

I reject the premise that Ann Coulter could possibly understand the intimacy of breastfeeding.

I'm pretty sure that for Ann Coulter, "breastfeeding" simply means feeding on the sweet breast-flesh of human mothers.

Lol. If Trump Administration has proven one thing, it’s that both sides don’t deserve equal treatment.

Sometimes that’s all you can do, and when you’ve passed the point where you’re having an honest discourse with someone, you have to appeal to the audience rather than the individual.

These are exactly the sort of spots to protest that need to be targeted.

Most of all we have to understand that protesting at the airports where land flights transporting these children from the border to the targeted federally funded (supposedly) gulags and outside those holding pens further terrifies and traumatized kids who are already terrified and terrified, and are unlikely to ever see their parents again.  Especially as we will often be carrying signs, maybe yelling, and be surrounded by law enforcement that has a deliberately frightening appearance to start with and can and often does make a lot of noise.

But the offices and homes of these sadistic, corrupt and so stupid people who are responsible for making this mess without any system in place, much less one that tracks and identifies the children and their parents -- they deserve to be followed and targeted all day and all night everywhere.

So far the elected officials and appointed officials and investigating journalists have counted that at least 900 kids have been sent to New York without anyone informing anyone about them.  Even when a facility is found, unless it's one that was already established in NY for children who need fostering, etc., nobody can even get in to look at what's going on.  They are told this is a federal site and neither city nor state has any right of oversight or any other information.

Lawyers are ramping up like crazy to represent these children -- an in many other ways NY is working to help, from clothes and toys, to volunteering (in the facilities that they can get into, such as some religious based ones), and investigating with the aim of bringing the children together with parent(s).  This must be going on in all the other cities that have been targeted for "tender age secret storage."

Like the protesters who shouted "shame" at Kirstjen Nielsen as she dined at the Mexican restaurant. Perhaps Septa Unella is available?

‘Fox & Friends’ Host Brian Kilmeade Defends Family Separations: ‘These Aren’t Our Kids’

These aren’t our kids,” the co-host of Trump’s favorite cable morning showsaid. “Show them compassion, but it’s not like he is doing this to the people of Idaho or, uh, or, uh, Texas. These are people from another country.”

So yeah, the US has functionally kidnapped 2000 children and unlike kidnappers has no actual plan to reunite the children with the people they came with or any other relatives of note.

I do not understand how this is not a capital crime. This is at the very least negligence on an insane scale. They implemented this policy with absolutely no regards to reunification of the children and parents.

They STILL do not have a plan.

Before anyone else goes on the whataboutism for Obama - I don't care, because these are 2,300 kids that we abducted, jailed and separated from their parents RIGHT NOW, in a situation we created right this instant. That didn't have to be that way in any way shape or form.

We did this.

Why don't you stick to getting sea lioned. Leave the Hardball to the professional.

Technically speaking, between the two of us, I’m the professional when it comes to politics. Maybe you should stick to yelling at nurses for overusing supplies.

:P
