Did Meleys fight on the Stepstones?

They had Vhagar, too.

Yes, Laena was a teenager. But Vhagar was not. A little rider on a big dragon may have been safer than a big rider on a small dragon.

What´s odd, though, is how Daemon struggled and failed.

What would have happened if Vhagar, Meleys and Caraxes had simply put the city of Tyrosh to dragonfire?

Tyrosh is no Dorne. (And neither is Braavos). The Free Cities are simply not rooted in countryside the way Westerosi nobles are. Burn down Pentos inside the walls, and Magister Illyrio is not accustomed to hunt and ride the countryside of his estates, or be regarded by his smallfolk as their protector.

As Tyrosh is a large city on a modest sized island, it cannot be fed by produce of the island either. Tyrosh must depend on food grown on mainland and ferried to the isle. Boats are wooden, and burn. 3 or 4 dragons (Seasmoke/Laenor for fourth) could quite decently patrol and blockade the waters separating Tyrosh from mainland and prevent Tyroshi from either getting any food or fleeing the island for food on mainland. Oh, and block Tyroshi fleet from attacking the other Stepstones either.

If Meleys and Vhagar had fought on the Stepstones, we would know it by now. They did not. Laena most likely stayed at home because she was a girl and had no place on a battlefield, and Rhaenys because she was a woman. In her case it is really odd considering her personality, but perhaps she thought this Stepstones business was a stupid idea from the start. Who knows?

With all the dragons in the world on the same side, there IS a place for women and children on a battlefield. Above the battlefield, above bowshot and safe from whatsoever the enemies might try. A pair of eyes and a human mind a furlong above trees, houses and hills, like Orell´s eagle, is useful even when the human mind is that of a seven year old girl.

That still doesn't change the fact that we have no reason to assume that Rhaenys/Meleys and Laena/Vhagar participated in any way, shape, or form in the Daemon's war on the Stepstones. Daemon didn't even go back there after he had married Laena, never mind the fact that Vhagar and Caraxes together should have helped him reclaim his crown and perhaps even destroy Tyrosh, Myr, and Lys if they were so inclined. Cities do burn, after all.

Perhaps Rhaenys and her daughter never gave a rat's ass about Corlys and Daemon's stupid war?
