President Obama did say Pakistan is what kept him up at night more than anything else.

Some rumors floating around that India has put one of her aircraft carriers to sea from Mumbai, several Pakistani cities (Lahore, Karachi) are blacked out tonight (India/Pakistan time) and that both sides could be prepared to carry out additional military action. New Delhi is 10:30 hours ahead of EST to give some frame of reference as it appears military actions are more likely during the night.

Did Allende refuse to allow foreign aid into Chile while Chilieans starved?

You do realise that it wasn't food and medicine in those trucks? If it was, the US would have simply handed it over to the Red Cross.

Oh, and here's how badly stocked a supermarket in downtown Caracas was today.

Your government is lying to you again.

I wasn’t pulling articles from Fox news.  That was NPR.  Is NPR a puppet of the Trump Administration?

https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/02/20/587242391/venezuelas-deepening-crisis-triggers-mass-migration-into-colombia

Further, the fact that one grocery store is stocked is like arguing that because Maduro is well fed all Venezualans must be well fed.  The masses of people fleeing Venezuala argues loudly that Venezuala is having serious problems.

I’m a long damn way from a Trump supporter but the fact that he opposes Maduro does not make Maduro non-dictatorial.

Explain Maduro’s expulsion of the Univison crew and his confiscation of all their recording equipment.

Scot, I've just had a brief tour of the US news outlets' coverage of Venezuala. They're all saying the same thing. That there is no food. They are not saying there is food, but because of US jackal activity, ordinary Venezuelans cannot afford it.

And I can't explain the decision to expel the Univison crew, perhaps Maduro knew they were actually CIA? Who knows? What I do know is that the reason Venezuela is in the state it is today is because of US meddling, oil theft, and the intentional crippling of their economy.

Do you have a mainstream news source that will back your interpretation?  Maduro is a crazyman.  I am not damning Socialism.  I’m saying Nicholas Maduro is hurting the people of Venezuala:

Don't be absurd. The CIA do not issue press briefings.

The only reason Maduro is having problems is US sanctions?  Can you document, from a mainstream source, that the humanitarian aid was not food and medical supplies?

When you have to pull from the left wing equivalent of infowars it doesn’t help your case.

Nicholas Maduro is not the Modern version of Allende.  People weren’t fleeing Chile by the millions before Pinochet took power.

Mate, I'm pulling from history.

Also, the head of the CIA basically confirmed it himself.

CIA chief hints agency is working to change Venezuelan government

That mainstream enough for ya?

That didn’t answer my question.  Are you claiming that but for CIA actions Venezuala would be a paradise full of happy people?  That Maduro is a great leader who’s only problem is that the US doesn’t like him?

there is a Happy medium where the US is interfering because Maduro is a crazyman.  There are more options than “Maduro is amazing” and “Repeat of Allede” because the CIA is involved.

Yes.

ETA: Actually, of course, no. But as well you know, Scot, no such place exists on Earth.

For an intelligent man, I cannot believe your naivety here. This began the moment Chavez was elected. Have you by any chance read Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins?

Yes.

Wait, the man who claims the spirit of Chavez speaks in the form of a bird.  Who jokes about his people going hungry and refuses international food aid while his people lose on average 10 pounds due lack of nutrition?  The man who eats on camera while his people go hungry, the man censoring the press and expelling international news crews who had he had agreed to interview with and confiscating their recording equipment is a great leader looking out for his people?

Did you listen the NPR report on the Univison crew?

That's not what I'm saying. All I know about Maduro is what I read in the media, so I know not to trust most of it. But I've read many books about the CIA, the American Corporate Empire, and all the fucked up, illegal shit they've done in the name of natural resources and preventing the spread of communism/socialsim.

You're a man of faith. Why is this a point of ridicule?

Because, Maduro is a Marxist socialist, if he is sincere in that he’s playing on his people’s faith to win points Chavez earned and he didn’t.

I will never claim the US is free from evil.  We’ve done some incredibly evil things in our history.  I simply don’t see that here. John Oliver is a long damn way from a right wing demigog.  He renounced Maduro last spring because of Maduro’s bullshit.

Don’t support Maduro simply because the US opposes him.  To coin a phrase when the stopped clock is right does it matter that it was wrong before?

Maduro is dangerous to the people of Venezuala and is more interested in retaining his personal power than helping his people in need.

That may well be the case, but what gives the US the right to topple him? Is it their oil, by any chance?

Maduro is the elected leader. The elections may have been flawed, but any more flawed than your own?

Yes, but what if the spirit of Chavez is actually appearing before him?

To directly “topple”, nothing.  That doesn’t mean the US has to buy Venezualan oil.  The election of Maduro is more than “flawed”.  It was designed to ensure his re-election after gutting existing democratic institutions.

As for the Chavez bird “really” talking to Maduro... I find that unlikely.  But I’d give it as much weight as the Squirrel spirit of George Washington speaking to Donald Trump.
