mormont
Sad news. Found dead in his apartment, and - which won't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the man and his recent history - apparently he lay there for two days undiscovered. https://io9.gizmodo.com/comic-book-legend-steve-ditko-is-dead-1827408041 Was he an objectivist asshat? Yes. Was he also a legendary creator? Definitely. A sad passing.
Ran
He lived his life his way, that's for sure. So far as I know, he also never imposed his views on others -- he just lived by them to the bitter end, and when his views clashed with others in a professional context, his approach was generally to surrender the field (and the job) rather than compromise with what he thought was right. His political screeds were not pleasant, to say the least, but he put them where he had a right to. As far as Objectivist asshats go, he seems to have been quite harmless. And he created some amazing things, and was apparently still actively working as recently as last year when he and Robin Snyder had produced a new Mr. A anthology. Werthead
Jonathan Ross's documentary on Ditko (featuring Neil Gaiman, John Romita and even Alan Moore) is well worth a watch.
