I don't know anything about the Premier League but I read somewhere that the only one who can really take Kante is Dembele.

It's plausible. Kante makes his living off tackling everyone in sight but Dembele once went six months without being tackled and is, percentage-completed-wise, the best dribbler in the top European leagues. He is ridiculously hard to get the ball off. Even his unwillingness to pass the ball more than about five yards might become beneficial in that particular battle because while it might slow play down (presumably it's the reason Martinez doesn't play him normally), it also makes it harder for Kante to intercept.

An interesting stat that I’ll post here before it becomes wrong is that so far, the only countries who have so far had their undisputed best World Cup performance are the two newbies, Iceland and Panama. And if Croatia beat Belgium in the third place match, they’ll be the only countries who can say that.

France urgently need to readjust and swap Matuidi and Griezmann's positions, because right now Pogba and Kante are just getting completely outnumbered in midfield while Chadli feels completely unthreatened by Matuidi and is just roaming forward at will.

Belgium were the better side in that half. They really bossed France in the opening 20 minutes or so. Still not sure why Deschamps persists with Matuidi at LM in a 4-2-3-1. Would be better off using him as part of a midfield three in a 4-3-3 and not be outnumbered in midfield.

Decent half. Sure it would have been far batter had Pavard crossed that ball back rather than shot.

Chadli and Dembele though.... dear.

Wtf? Chadli and Dembélé have been decent in their respective roles thus far. Fellaini and Vertonghen have been average, if not mediocre.

Pogba has actually put in a very good defensive shift over the course of the tournament, not just this game.

Putting the shift in when asked to play defensively has never been Pogba's problem.

Great today, anyway. Him and Varane are the reason they won. Not as open a game as we might have hoped but a good one.
