Seams Posted July 20, 2018 Share Posted July 20, 2018 It's possible that Rhaegar thought he had run off with Robert and never realized that he had mistakenly hooked up with Lyanna Stark. Evidence: 1) Laughing Storm starts with the same letters as Lyanna Stark. 2) Littlefinger thought he was having sex with Catelyn but apparently he slept with Lysa by mistake. (The names Lysa and Lyanna also share some letters.) Maybe Rhaegar did the same thing, bedding Lyanna when he thought he was consummating his love for Robert. 3) Robert disappears for quite some time at the Stoney Sept. Maybe he and Rhaegar were getting it on in seclusion. The Lyanna thing had been a diversionary tactic. The reason this all falls through, though, is that hair color is a key piece of evidence on which the plot hinges. If Rhaegar and Robert had children together, we don't know what color hair the children would have, so the plot wouldn't work. Super interesting cause for speculation, though.
