They could belt out a tune like no one's business... But Ella set the table for everyone... if she or Sinatra didn;t sing it, then it wasn't written. Karen carpenter had perfect pitch... no soul... but a beautiful voice... I personally love the way Alicia Keys sings... she has throwback soul Gladys Knight deserves a mention There was a progressive rock group called Renaissance... their singer, Annie Haslem, was classically trained.... great voice...
