Oh my, Sanders has just announced that Trump is looking at how to pull the security clearances of all former White House and other personnel who have dared to write books or appear on CNN in interviews, because they have "monetized" their security clearances. Not just Brennan, but Comey and every other intelligence person under Obama.

His ignorance is only exceeded by his pettiness...or vice versa...or...something.  He will never stop achieving new lows.

HA!  The fact that, in this case, Vader appears to have also gone a bit overboard with the spray tanner is the best part!:P

Trump is looking into removing security clearances from Brennan, Comey, Rice and other former intelligence officials who have been critical of him.

Another authoritarian move, this time at the suggestion of Rand Paul. Obama's group didn't remove Flynn's security clearance even after he's chanting "Lock Her Up" at the convention.

Of course there is the fact that some of these people don't even have clearance like Comey/McCabe. Trump is just trying to discredit them or more likely, he's trying to hurt his perceived critics without actually know anything.

He's terrified.  They came back to a WH surrounded by protesters for the 4th day in a row, chanting, "Lock him up!"

He's been blathering about punishing in some way or another anyone in media and press who says what he does't like, and doing it for weeks already.

Has a person ever expressed more statements of innocents while acting as guilty as possible?

Was this already posted?

Fox being Fox: accidentally books wrong guest, then cuts her mike when she turns out to have opposite views to their pro-ICE, pro-Trump narrative.

Hardly moves the outrage meter these days of course.  A big chunk of the country is totally ok with this - both the children in cages part and the nation's leading news station silencing (via mike cut-off) a guest who is articulating points against their propaganda.

Traister at NYMag makes the case that Warren is the favorite for the Dems.  Worth a read.

It would be interesting to see what her platform would look like, but I suspect her moment has passed. If there's even a semi-serious Democrat under retirement age running in 2020, he or she will probably win the primary over all of the old guard. Warren should have run in 2016 or, at the very least, endorsed Sanders who is much closer to her ideologically than Clinton was.

Holy smokes, have you seen what Sacha Baron Cohen did to various US politicians, both former ones and ones currently sitting? Cuomo on CNN showed some clips, and Republicans actually said "there's no age limit mentioned in the Constitution" and suggested very young children ('talented' children) should be trained to use guns so they can protect themselves from gunmen in schools.

No wonder no laws can be passed.

That is so last week.

We are now at a Georgia state legislature who dropped his pants and yelled racial epithets while showing his ass.

Do not if this will work for all.

On Trump's popularity.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/7/23/17602278/donald-trump-approval-rating

Quote

Recent polling on President Donald Trump has increasingly been covered in a way that emphasizes Trump’s high numbers with self-identified Republicans rather than his low numbers with the American public.

Quote

For example, a new poll released on Monday shows Trump underwater by a 52-45 margin and gives Democrats a 6-point lead in the generic congressional ballot. But it was largely touted for showing that among Republicans, Trump has a better approval rating than Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, and George H.W. Bush ever managed to achieve.

Well, I guess this shows the Republican Party just keeps on getting nuttier and nuttier. But, I guess we already knew that.

Quote

The truth, however, is that Trump is an unpopular president by historical standards, and his party appears to be suffering predictable consequences.

There is a new poll from NBC/WSJ which puts Trump up from last week overall at 45% approval.

If he has a 45% approval rating its a national disgrace that many are still on board with his freakshow.

Right? Looks like we have a new front runner for 2024 nominee. Ball’s in your court Pence.

Cock out, hurling racial epithets is the purest manifestation of modern Republicanism.

Hackers working for Russia claimed “hundreds of victims” last year in a giant and long-running campaign that put them inside the control rooms of U.S. electric utilities where they could have caused blackouts, federal officials said. They said the campaign likely is continuing.

The Russian hackers, who worked for a shadowy state-sponsored group previously identified as Dragonfly or Energetic Bear, broke into supposedly secure, “air-gapped” or isolated networks owned by utilities with relative ease by first penetrating the networks of key vendors who had trusted relationships with the power companies, said officials at the Department of Homeland Security.

“They got to the point where they could have thrown switches” and disrupted power flows, said Jonathan Homer, chief of industrial-control-system analysis for DHS.

it's war.

DHS has been warning utility executives with security clearances about the Russian group’s threat to critical infrastructure since 2014. But the briefing on Monday was the first time that DHS has given out information in an unclassified setting with as much detail. It continues to withhold the names of victims but now says there were hundreds of victims, not a few dozen as had been said previously.

It also said some companies still may not know they have been compromised, because the attacks used credentials of actual employees to get inside utility networks, potentially making the intrusions more difficult to detect.
