Make a habit of it, Lannister, and one day men might call you Goldenhand after all. Goldenhand the Just. (AFFC Jaime III)

Garth VII Gardener, called the Goldenhand or Garth Goldenhand, was a King of the Reach and head of House Gardener. He is considered the greatest Gardener King in the history of the Reach, for his deeds both in war and in peace As a boy, Garth turned back a Dornish invasion when King Ferris Fowler led a thousand men through the Wide Way intent on conquest. [1] Soon after he drove the last of the ironborn from their strongholds on the Misty Islands. He then renamed them the Shield Islands, and resettled them with his own fiercest fighters and finest seamen, granting them special dispensations with the goal of turning them into a first line of defense against ironborn raiders. This proved a great success.[2][1]

In his final and greatest war, Garth VII faced an alliance between the Storm King and the King of the Rock, who intended to divide the Reach between them. The Goldenhand defeated them both, and then with cunning words he sowed such strife between the two that they turned on each other with great slaughter at the Battle of Three Armies. In the aftermath Garth married his daughters to their heirs and signed a pact with each, thereby fixing the borders between their three kingdoms.[1] But Garth's greatest achievement was to give his kingdom and people three-quarters of a century of golden peace. During the long years oys uf his reign, the Reach was at war for less than ten. Generations of boys were born, grew to manhood, and sired children of their own and died without ever having to know what it was to grasp a spear and shield and march away to war. And with this long peace came an unprecedented prosperity. This period became known as the Golden Reign, and was when the Reach truly flowered.[1]

Garth VII died when he was ninety-three, frail of body but sound of wits, having reigned for eighty-one years. He was succeeded on the Oakenseat by a great-grandson.[1] The golden peace of Garth Goldenhand never came again.[3]

https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Garth_VII_Gardener could this be foreshadowing on what jaime will become by the end of the series someone who despite always running from power ending up be the one to become king and him fixing westeros to the point it lead to a long peace and prosperity. to bring back the goldenhand of garth goldenhand. and help the smallfolk. (I am a guy who firmly believes that jaime is tywins son and disagree with the notion of jaime being aerys kid ) (or this belief that all fo tywins kids have to die as punishment for his crimes or to show for him being a bad parent vor claim that if jaime becomes a king or lord of casterly rock tywin will win when no) Tyrion is the one who would rule most like Tywin did, regardless of what he thought he wanted. If Jaime is the ruler and he prioritizes the welfare of the smallfolk, that’s hardly giving Tywin what he wanted.

Jaime views leadership as a responsibility to look after the people, and that’s what he’s been doing

Jaime views leadership as a responsibility to look after the people, and that’s what he’s been doing Doesn’t matter whether they trust him, or whether they like him, or whether they’re sufficiently loyal to Jaime’s side of the war. He wants everyone to have enough to eat, he treats battle as a last resort, he looks after the safety of the most powerless people, he embraces the outcasts, the underappreciated, the unfairly judged, the neglected and unloved. Like his exiled little brother, not his embattled twin. Like his big wench Brienne, not the pretty little maiden his father wanted him to marry.

He is not the man Tywin wanted him to be; he is the man who may actually have the power to clean up the messes his father made. This is the Lion of Lannister who can restore the family name to a position that commands loyalty and admiration

jaime made sure to end the riverrun bloodlessly and keep his oath to catelyn even if it meant making a threat against edmures baby utilizing how he is seen by edmure as a dishonourable knight to get him to do what he wanted which jaime knew edmure would do

Rather than hang Edmure Tully and disembowel the Blackfish, he turned his reputation as a villainous monster into a tool of mercy. He threatened to trebuchet a baby so he could make a deal in which no more fathers would have to lose their sons. The Tullys were no friends of his, and yet he did his job in a way that prioritized their survival. This is what he can do with a modest level of military resources and bargaining power at his disposal, so think of what he could do when freed from the burden of his vows. In the way he resolved the siege of Riverrun, he’s shown us the potential in the moniker of Goldenhand. If you play nicely with him, he’ll be extremely generous, but if you cross him, he will smack you like you have never been smacked before. While Cersei views leadership as a matter of elevating herself, Jaime views leadership as a responsibility to look after the people, and that’s what he’s been doing. Doesn’t matter whether they trust him, or whether they like him, or whether they’re sufficiently loyal to Jaime’s side of the war. He wants everyone to have enough to eat, he treats battle as a last resort, he looks after the safety of the most powerless people, he embraces the outcasts, the underappreciated, the unfairly judged, the neglected and unloved. Jaime’s advice to Amarei ¨If you want their help, you need to make them love you. That was how Arthur Dayne did it, when we rode against the Kingswood Brotherhood. He paid the smallfolk for the food we ate, brought their grievances to King Aerys, expanded the grazing lands around their villages, even won them the right to fell a certain number of trees each year and take a few of the king’s deer during the autumn. The forest folk had looked to Toyne to defend them, but Ser Arthur did more

on Aegon V he in his travels with dunk showed him first hand what the lives of the smallfolk were actually like, and as a King he sought to relieve their plight by making reforms so came into the throne determined to make life better for the poor and oppressed He made several reforms to improve the lives of the smallfolk, which earned him the enmity of the highborn and tywin completely removed all his reforms as Hand of the king so when jaime becomes king he may reinstate aegon V reforms

I like the idea of Jaime being a king who’s super-extra-beloved by his smallfolk. But I also like the idea of Jaime being smart enough with his policy to get the nobility, not exactly on board, but to accept the measures to protect the common people. He makes the kind of reforms that don’t get reversed after he dies.

jaime will bring back the golden peace and rule.

Jaime will never be king. Ever.

He has a white cloak, and he is determined to keep it. He could become Hand, but that's as far as he'll go. In order to become king, he would need to abandon the Kingsguard, and be twice an oathbreaker. It seems to me he's trying to avoid any more stains on his honour.

I also think you have an overly positive view of Jaime. Sure, he's improved as a character, but, um, he, um, threatened to, um, fire a baby out a, um, trebuchet, um. That, um, was, um, morally, um, dubious at best.

Very nice forshadowing. I really hope will come true because that's the kind of king, or queen, that Westeros could use after the last few decades. Tommen would have been my first choice for this of course, but King Tommen with Goldenhand as his Hand of the King would make for a fine combo.

IMO Jamies threat to Edmure was exactly that a threat....

Jamie has shown he is far more honourable then most and would certainly not kill an innocent newborn child, also house Frey are there allies and to kill Roslyns kid and rightful heir to Riverlands would greatly insult them.

House Frey are weak atm and need the Lannisters to stay in power BUT to get on Walders bad side could have them secretly backing someone else.

Interesting idea. I like looking for parallels too. I don't Jaime will become king though
