I guess the difference is that Guendouzi didn't play at the world cup. Obviously a match-fitness concern with Torreira.

Xhaka did though. I'm not necessarily saying Torriera should have played every minute of every game but Xhaka's been rubbish ever since he came to Arsenal, I'd have been looking to phase Torreira in as much as possible.:dunno:

Anyway, scrappy goal but Arsenal in front.

Everton have been entertainment gold so far.  Goals, fast breaks, red cards, comebacks and collapses.  And their squad is top heavy enough to promise more the same.  Sigurdsson, Walcott and Richarlison all look rejuvenated so far.  Perhaps this is where players can go to fight their way into the top six rather than just joining them.

Wolves went toe to toe with City, played some very nice football and, after two games of fluffing many chances before conceding, got some luck in their opponents hitting the bar/post to hold on for a point.  Another highly entertaining team for the neutrals, but need to be a bit tighter for the sanity of their own fans.

Leicester best Southampton away without Vardy.  Saints need to find a clue soon.

Another win for Liverpool but we were a lot less in control than the previous 2 games. Brighton were fairly decent, I don't think they're going to be a pushover this year.

The front 3 all still look a bit off the pace and Van Dijk actually didn't have his best game. Joe Gomez looks like he could be a really classy centre back though and Sturridge had a nice little cameo.

It was a bit tense as it wound down because they brought on some strikers and starting hitting it long and direct.  Good game plan by a very solid Brighton.  But we handled it pretty well, with Becker making a solid save from a header.

We were lacking a spark up front.  Lots of chances and half chances squandered.  This week and last week we had very good game management without great play from our forwards.

Danny was disappointing as a sub.  Too casual on the ball, too intent on forcing the spectacular rather than playing the smart ball first.  Hendo did well again to freshen MF.  Matip was a good sub to remove TAA, who was getting caught out of position.

Arsenal's defending has been as bad as United's attacking.

Everton fans look like they are going to be entertained this season.

Still no goal for Ronaldo in Serie A. Only a matter of time before Juve are awarded a penalty though. ;) Disappointed to see that Ronaldo has been given the free-kick duties. Pjanic is a better dead ball specialist than Ronaldo ever was.

Strange game.

Silly by Richarlison, then we suddenly play well - on the counter, something we really didn't do last year. But we're struggling at the back, especially with Keane not being fast enough for the high line we're playing.

That said, I really hope he's not seriously injured. And I hope we'll continue looking entertaining. After Samuele, even these draws feel like heaven.

Lacazette is a bit unfortunate to be on the bench each game.  He has looked good in each appearance, perhaps only behind Monreal for consistency in his quality so far.

West Ham are rock bottom despite some good additions.  Their CM looks weak so far.  Wilshire and Noble don’t look able to shield the defense.  Liverpool ran the game from MF and then Bournemouth created chances straight through the center with no obstacle from a DM.

Sloppy match between Arsenal and West Ham.  Clearly both teams still trying to learn new systems.  Plenty of room to move at both ends of the pitch all game long.  With better finishing, West Ham might easily have won the game (though I definitely wouldn’t say they deserved it).

Issa Diop had a terrible debut. Aside from his double blunder for Arsenal’s second, he was all over the place for the entire match.  I suppose the bright side is he’s unlikely to ever have a worse match in his PL career.

After two anonymous performances to start his West Ham days, Felipe Anderson was the best player on the pitch today I thought, which comes as some relief considering how much the club spent on him.

I wasn’t sure about the Fabianski signing at the time, but as three games in he’s looking like West Ham’s best offseason move.

Despite a third successive loss to start the season, today’s game showed me enough to make me believe that West Ham is going to win some games this season when all the new players and the new tactics come together.

I doubt we’ll see Wilshere and Noble together in the West Ham midfield again unless there is someone else in there to move about and shield the centre backs.  I thought Declan Rice was by far the worst of the three of them in the Liverpool match, and I didn’t see the Bournemouth match, but clearly neither Wilshere nor Noble has the mobility to make that partnership work.

ETA: having said that, I do think Pellegrini’s 4-2-2-2 system puts a ridiculous amount of stress on the centre midfield, especially when the team aren’t dominating possession which West Ham have not been.  If there comes a time when West Ham are regularly dominating possession (and this will definitely be Pellegrini’s ambition) we might see a Wilshere/Noble pairing again.

Liverpool created a lot of chances in the first half.  Misses (Mane), saves (Firmino), and crossbar (TAA) kept us out until Salah took one nicely, but then Firmino and Salah missed further chances and Firmino was denied a clear penalty early in the second half.  Then chance creation slowed in the second half as it got a bit tired and choppy.  So it’s not like we were devoid of attacking play but I am concerned that our front three aren’t really firing yet.  The fans are happy that we’ve been able to win ugly, but doing that in two games out of three so far tells me we need to get a bit sharper before we drop some points.

Unfortunately there’s an international break approaching that will hinder our rhythm too.

Special mention for Joe Gomez today, who was very assured and in control.  Robertson is so consistent atttacking and defending.  Gini was solid again as Keita faded and Milner faded somewhat too.

Haven't seen your previous games, but I thought Wilshere was really bad today. He seemed to constantly give the ball away :(

There’s an article in the Times today saying Abramovich is putting Chelsea up for sale. The club have apparently denied it but it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise with him pulling out of funding the new stadium after his visa issues.
