Between Gordon, Kenny Britt, and Corey Coleman (cut to make room for Gordon) they've run through the Browns' recent wide receiver room. Heard on the radio driving home that dropping Coleman is the team's 28th WR transaction since the start of the league year. Ugh. It's because, despite his wishes and his snake oil salesman, Brady's window is probably 1-2 years, so they're doing everything they can to win now. And let's not forget, Josh Gordon is a top 5 WR when he's right. I believe it was in 2013 when he led the league in receiving yards despite missing two games, and the yards he put up that year were more than Moss or T.O. ever put up in a year. In both games his pass rush was dominant in the first half but then he was gassed in the second half. His fitness conditioning looks poor. And this Bears offense will have their defense on the field a lot. Seattle might feel unfortunate to lose by just a pick-6, but they were outplayed today. They only had a chance when they opened up their offensive play in the 4th, but that led to one touchdown and two turnovers, so still just a wash or worse. Bears first TD and Seattle’s second both relied on a drive that was extended with some good fortune: penalties, long scrambles by QB, and an improbably perfect Wilson-Locket connection against tight coverage. Neither offense had any consistent rhythm to march down the field, at least until Seattle threw caution to the wind. Seattle often has a pattern of struggling in offense until the fourth quarter, but they’re giving away too much of the game like that. Bears are the inverse of Seattle at QB: Mitch looks a level below the rest of the team and he’ll hold them back. But it’s worth a gamble to see if he’ll develop.
