If I read it correctly, the deal is that the Browns send a 7th rounder back to NE if Gordon doesn't suit up for 10 games.

Sure, Josh Gordon is going to keep his shit together, learn the playbook, and earn Brady's trust.

This feels really weird. Pats are flailing at personnel in a way that's hard to remember. Between Gordon, Kenny Britt, and Corey Coleman (cut to make room for Gordon) they've run through the Browns' recent wide receiver room. Heard on the radio driving home that dropping Coleman is the team's 28th WR transaction since the start of the league year. Ugh.

It's because, despite his wishes and his snake oil salesman, Brady's window is probably 1-2 years, so they're doing everything they can to win now. And let's not forget, Josh Gordon is a top 5 WR when he's right. I believe it was in 2013 when he led the league in receiving yards despite missing two games, and the yards he put up that year were more than Moss or T.O. ever put up in a year. A 5th or a 7th for that is a steal if the team is a contender.

Amazingly, we're on week two of the season and the Browns have managed to turn what was arguably their strongest position heading into the year, receiver, into a weakness.  Impressive, even for them.

Day 633. Stay strong!

This thread is not dead yet.  400 posts before a new one!

I think the Jets contend before the Giants do.  One NYC franchise is on the right path.

Giants need another top 5 pick, which seems likely, and draft their QB then. Build that hell O-line up and contend with OBJ, Barkley and young stud QB in 2020-23. Trust the process.

Vic Fangio needs to keep Mack on a treadmill all week.  In both games his pass rush was dominant in the first half but then he was gassed in the second half.  His fitness conditioning looks poor.  And this Bears offense will have their defense on the field a lot.

Seattle might feel unfortunate to lose by just a pick-6, but they were outplayed today. They only had a chance when they opened up their offensive play in the 4th, but that led to one touchdown and two turnovers, so still just a wash or worse.

Bears first TD and Seattle’s second both relied on a drive that was extended with some good fortune: penalties, long scrambles by QB, and an improbably perfect Wilson-Locket connection against tight coverage.  Neither offense had any consistent rhythm to march down the field, at least until Seattle threw caution to the wind.  Seattle often has a pattern of struggling in offense until the fourth quarter, but they’re giving away too much of the game like that.

Bears are the inverse of Seattle at QB: Mitch looks a level below the rest of the team and he’ll hold them back.  But it’s worth a gamble to see if he’ll develop.
