Number of secret identities you believe to exist in the series and how they will be revealed

Recommended Posts

There are a ton of characters we are supposed to doubt--they are written specifically for that purpose.   We are also dealing with a gardener type of author who changes his mind all the time about his characters.  Maester Monthly put out a video detailing what they believe may have happened during that 5 year gap GRRM struggled with.    They made some really nice connections between Pretty Maris and Brienne as well as Corpsekiller and Sandor Clegane.   I'm not buying into the idea completely but it did open my eyes to the great burden of consistency Martin has to be under with a massive cast of characters.   However, I don't believe Martin is hapless and may have allowed himself a loophole or 2 in the Riverlands for any characters MIA he may deem handy to hide in plain sight.  The most obvious of these characters is pretty much any member of the Brotherhood Without Banners or on the Quiet Isle.   Look how Elder Brother is written.   We've got everything but his name.   The Wall and sell sword companies are great places to spring missing characters from like a Targaryen who would have been king or maybe a few Blackfyres or exiled lords.   I don't know that we will get ID reveals for Jyanna Reed or that Hooded Man, but Sarella Sand and Young Griff are looking pretty good for strong reveals.    When you see what's happened with Lancel Lannister or Septon Meribald it's easy to see where some of Rhaegar's missing rubies may be...or not.

Pretty Meris could be Brienne's mother. Her looks, her age, and the time of her arrival to Essos do match with Brienne's mom. She gave birth to Brienne, and soon after that left Westeros. Just a possibility.

Brienne is supposedly descendant of Duncan the Tall, but Brienne's father is of average looks and height. I'm basing it on what people were saying about Brienne and her father, something like why did Gods gave him a daughter like that. If her father was tall and rought-looking like Brienne, then no one whould have wandered about that, they would have just  thought, that she inherited her looks and height from her father.

So it seems, that descendant of Duncan the Tall was Brienne's unknown mother, and not her father. And in ASOIAF there's one woman, whose age and looks, and even her occupation - warrior-woman, does fit. So  hypothetically Meris could be Brienne's mother.

Wenda possibly was a member of House Cafferen, whose castle Fawnton is located in Stormlands (above Summerhal, on the edge of Kingswood), and there are two white fawns on their sigil.

The Kingswood is not very far from Tarth. So, maybe, Selwyn and Wenda the White Fawn (because she was blonde) / Pretty Meris has met, when she was a member of Kingswood Brotherhood.

It's likely, that all members of Kingswood Brotherhood originally were from around that area (Crownlands, Stormlands, from around Blackwater Bay, and Kingswood).

And it seems, that Brienne has already met one of her mother's ex-acquaintances - Nimble Dick/Dick Crabb (a former soldier originally from Crackclaw Point, which is not far from Tarth) could actually be an ex-member of Kingswood Brotherhood, Fletcher Dick.

There are 20+ characters in ASOIAF, that were/are using aliases or fake names. Alayne Stone - Sansa Stark. Arry, Weasel, Cat of the Canals, Mercy - Arya Stark. Arya Stark - Jeyne Poole. Arstan Whitebeard - Barristan Selmy. John the Fiddler - Daemon II Blackfyre. Egg - Aegon V Targaryen. Abel the Bard - Mance Rayder. Reek - Ramsay Snow. Griff - Jon Connington. Hugor Hill - Tyrion Lannister. Alleras - Sarella Sand. Frog - Quentyn Martell. Patchface, which is, obviously, not his real name. Etc.

So, maybe, Wenda the Fawn and Fletcher Dick were just their aliases, while Meris and Dick Crabb are their real names. And they weren't using their real names, while they were outlaws.

What characters (primary, secondary, and tertiary) with secret identities have been revealed, how have they been revealed, and what purpose did the twist serve? Answer those questions, and it will help answer the OP, no?
