Did the Red Comet _____ ?

The bible is popular in the forums today.  I see.  Okay so the shining star in the bible arrived during the birth of the christ.  But what if the red comet arrived during the death of Rhaego.  Rhaego would have been powerful within a few years.  He would have been the most powerful person on planetos.  He would have all of the khalasars working for him and possibly his own dragon.  The red comet began its journey in time to arrive during his birth.  Instead he was dead by the time it arrived.  It was meant to herald his birth.  We have to assume Illyrio, Aegon, and other noteworthy people would make their pilgrimage and pay homage to the khal of khals like the three wise kings did in the bible.

Off topic but I do really love that pretty much everyone is like

"F*** this noise, this is my faction's comet. it's our time now!"

I feel it's a very real example of human psychology...just think if a comet like that appeared here what would your Facebook look like? Probably similar.

Too true. The comet is a rorschach test for the characters (and us).

The prophecy gets fulfilled regardless because mommy is now set to become the leader of all the khalasars.

The comet's tail is Rhaego's blood.  Not literally but that is the connection made in the tale of Azor Ahai.  The sacrifice is what made the sword red.  The weather has already turned to winter and this comet starts the chain reaction that will eventually defeat ice and bring back the light.

We have yet to figure out what the ordeal of the Red Comet is... so what do you think is the best explanation? With the material (lore) we have right now.

The comet is a marker of important events foretold through prophecies.  Important things took place that day.

  1. The last of the pure Targaryen walked into a fire and was reborn.
  2. The heir to the Targaryen kingdom, Prince Rhaego, died.
  3. Khal Drogo, the undefeated, died.
  4. Most important is the hatching of the dragons.
  5. Recent death of King Viserys III.

A lot of other significant events were taking place across the sea.  Westeros is at war.  The WWs are active.  The last of the main three antagonists to the Targaryens have just died, Ned Stark.  The main instigators of the rebellion all died within a calendar year of each other.  Jon Arryn, Robert Baratheon, and Ned Stark.  The three perps have all died.

#2 and #3 all led to Khaleesi having to make a choice.  She can go to Vaes Dothrak and live a lifetime of obscurity.  She chose to become a Targaryen again and do what the family has always done, rule.  Arya and Jon go through a similar process.  Arya becomes a faceless person briefly but she can't get rid of the wolf blood.  Jon takes the oath of the Nightswatch but he can't shake the wolf's blood and is 100% Stark right down to oathbreaking.  Daenerys, unlike the Starks, do not abandon her new people, the Dothraki.  She found a third and better option, she takes what's left of Drogo's and makes it her very own khalasar.  Thus, she can be both Queen Daenerys of Westeros and Khaleesi of the Dothraki.  She kept her bridge intact and left herself something to build on.

The star is the birth of a person of importance to the Rhllorians.  It might change the religion in significant ways forever.  Like instead of bitching about slavery inside their temples that they actually do something constructive about helping the slaves.

To the Icey Starks it is the return of Fire into the picture and they may have to honor their oaths and bend their knees again.

There is no future in a death unless one becomes a White Walker.  Which we know Rhaego did not.  The comet arrived during the funeral ceremony for Drogo.

Dany's interpretation was the most accurate because the comet led her khalasar to Vaes Tolorro.  The most important event of the last 150 years took place under the red comet.  The birth of the three dragons.
