Ser Kafka
Hi all! I have thought long and hard about whether to write a novel (or a short story) and I think I've finally landed on a decent idea. I would like to read some advice from published authors on this here website. I would use the search function to, erm, search for past topics on the matter, but I can't seem to find it..? To that end, please feel free to merge this thread with another, or point me in the correct direction, etc. Thank you, and good to be back. Spockydog
You could do a lot worse than Stephen King's On Writing, as long as you ignore everything he says about writing an ending.

Agreed. The most important advice I could give anybody is already in there. You could also do a lot worse than joining an online critique group such as critters.org if they still exist. Criticism hurts, but it's necessary for growth. Online groups can be a good way to ease you into that process. Good luck!
