Real Madrid have appointed Solari on a permanent basis giving him a 3 year contract. He's started well but so did Lopetegui until it all went south. I think that this might be a bit premature - should have kept him as interim until the end of the season and taken it from there.

What a second half in Croatia! Five goals, multipe must-score chances for both teams, and a debutant scores the winner for Croatia in overtime, his second goal of the evening. What a turnaround from a rather boring first half.

Croatia/Spain was a cracking game. Both defences were shambolic though. De Gea had another poor outing for Spain. At this point, he should be dropped from the NT and Kepa given a chance. He just looks nowhere near as solid playing for Spain as he does for United.

France are so fucking boring to watch. Netherlands deserve their halftime lead. France are really missing Pogba as well. None of that midfield (N'Zonzi, Kante, Matuidi) possess the creativity nor ability to transition play and start counters as well as Pogba can. Deschamps should have started a more creative midfielder like Ndombele in place of either N'Zonzi or Matuidi.

Netherlands were by far the better side. Could have scored 4 or 5. I'm not sure what was going through Deschamps's head - the midfield was painfully lacking creativity and he decides to bring on Sissoko. Ndombele was brought on far too late as well. Lacazette should not be getting ignored any longer either. While Giroud does a decent job at link up play, Lacazette could do that too while offering much more on the counter - he's currently in better goal scoring form as well.

Lacazette was not originally called up though. He only got the call because Martial pulled out through injury and Martial only got a call up because Lemar was injured. Lacazette is a ways down the pecking order for Deschamps even though there is no decent backup at #9 - Lacazette should be first choice there anyway. He can do what Giroud does plus more.

That just further emphasizes that his tactic is playing not 1 but 3 holding midfielders of the Gattuso type.

That's the way France plays, they try an stifle their opponents with 3 midfielders that run and run and run and try to stop/negate whatever creativity is thrown at them. He plays Kante, and then Matuidi, and one other guy just like them, and then brings in yet another such player as a sub in Sissokho.

To be fair he also brought in Dembele but the Barcelona man was neutralized.

In any case, we've now beaten Germany 3-0, and dealt world champions France the first defeat in a long, long time.

Feeling very good about our team. Some top class players are emerging.
