Loki made some good points in response to this but I'd also add that people get more conservative when they have assets/wealth they want to conserve. While it won't be hitting the people hitting "old age" at the moment, in another couple of decades of the current inequality continuing to rise you're going to have people hitting old age without those things and thus are less likely to flip that way politically.
