However the A World of Ice and Fire places it northwest of Harroway, where the kingsroad crosses a tributary of the Green Fork. So where exactly is the canon location of the castle? Arya's mention of "the Darry [River]," after she, Gendry, and Hot Pie escape from Harrenhal, and are trying to identify the river they are encountering while on their way north to find the Trident, to follow the Red Fork to Riverrun, might indicate that Castle Darry is south of the Trident. Quote "There's miles and miles before we reach the Trident," she said. "We won't be there for days. This must be some different river, one of these, see." She showed him some of the thinner blue lines the mapmaker had painted in, each with a name painted in fine script beneath it. "The Darry, the Greenapple, the Maiden . . . here, this one, the Little Willow, it might be that." (ASOS: Arya I) Ser Hyle also says it is south across the Trident from Saltpans: Quote "Aye, but I don't think our dog will have wandered too far from its mouth. Westeros has lost its charm for him, it would seem. At Saltpans he was looking for a ship." Ser Hyle drew a roll of sheepskin from his boot, pushed the sausages aside, and unrolled it. It proved to be a map. "The Hound butchered three of his brother's men at the old inn by the crossroads, here. He led the raid on Saltpans, here." He tapped Saltpans with his finger. "He may be trapped. The Freys are up here at the Twins, Darry and Harrenhal are south across the Trident, west he's got the Blackwoods and the Brackens fighting, and Lord Randyll's here at Maidenpool. The high road to the Vale is closed by snow, even if he could get past the mountain clans. Where's a dog to go?" Paxter Redwyne Posted January 17, 2019 Author Share Posted January 17, 2019 Okay, I just got answer from Ran regarding this and he confirms that Darry is south of Trident and that map which listed Darry northwest of Harroway contained an error.
