Strange Things That Just... Do It For You

No, not in a sexual way. Unless you feel compelled to share that, in which case I'll try not to judge.

This is a thread to celebrate those odd little things that provide an immense amount of satisfaction.

I'll go first of course. I LOVE mockeries of justice, particularly the dramatization of realish events. I totally enjoy a bunch of folks condemning someone in a back alley. Bonus points if they have faux justifications and make believe legal standing for the murder.  Mafia hits and the like are also fun. I think I'm just a sadist and enjoy watching the character realize they're about to be executed and there's no fighting back, just begging and groveling.

Another weird one is the sound a sniper rifle makes when they cycle a round. I have no real interest in guns outside of historical relevance and video games, but whether it's a movie or game that *cling-ting* sound sends a thrill of excitement through me every time.

I also enjoy fire. I don't think I'm a pyromaniac, I've never really been one who played with matches or anything. But I can sit and watch a fire for a really long time, and I have some kind of undiagnosed Attention Disorder regarding everything else in my life. I can't play a video game without a movie or podcast or audiobook playing or else I'll get bored and restless. And I'll also have a physical book or the internet open in addition to these two things for transition between matches or respawn times or whatever. But pop me in front of a fire and Jace will shut the fuck down and just watch.

What have we got folks? Tell me your sekrets!!!

When I buy stuff in a shop and I have the exact correct amount of money.

This is even better if you've just scooped a handful of change from the drawers before you left the house.

I like being able to make exact change, but I don't think I've ever had only the exact right amount.

What always freaks me out is when the total on my cart full of groceries comes out to an even dollar amount.  And no amount of logic, math, or statistics will make that Truman Show/glitch in the Matrix feeling go away.

"That will be $186 dollars, sir"

*shivers*

Nothing strange about fire doing it for you, I think it does it for most people.  When I last moved having a fireplace was just below having the appropriate number of bedrooms and appliances on the priority list, and I live in Texas.  We use it even more often than I thought we would. I love sleeping in front of it, reading next to it, drinking whisky next to it, and just plain old burning shit in there in general.   Finally can make proper use of all the junk mail.

Given all our convos, I think trying isn't enough.

Also, the fire thing is definitely a Midwestern thing.

Having my head rubbed. Like cocaine on heroin for me. I’m pretty picky sexually, but I’ll let anyone rub my head if they do it right.

See above. Clarifications are needed.

West Virginia is in the house!

I see your new pens, and raise you new socks.

Funny, because this is the crescendo. When I saw this thread title, I thought about your love of a new pair of socks.

Personally, I don't have any strange things that do it for me. They're things that do it for most people, I just tend to be well ahead of the curve.

My head head, the one on top of my torso/neck. It’s absolutely huge, though...if you look at my pic you’ll think it’s mostly hair, everyone does, but it’s mostly head. Which is why I can never wear hats, because it becomes suddenly apparent that I am basically deformed.

Assigned seating at the theatre and people's inability to find their seats despite only needing to know the alphabet and count. I could watch those idiots for hours.

I was bemused to find some places don’t have pre-assigned seating. What kind of barbarian cinema doesn’t let you book a particular seat?

Yes. Especially and inky pen. The first word you write with it is pretty damn special

Again, yes.

Yep, one of my very favorite things to do - sit by the fire in the back yard (I live in North Dakota, so...weather permitting).  Our family room fire place is gas-burning (I know, I know, giving up the real thing there for convenience).  I like the fireplace in our house, especially in the dead of winter, but I love the backyard fire.  The rest of the family has a pretty short attention span for it but you'll often find me still hanging out by the fire (probably enjoying an adult beverage or three) long after they've given up;)
