Maester's chain links

Recommended Posts

This is the information I have found so far concerning the links of a Maester's chain:
black iron-Ravencraft
bronze-Astronomy
copper-History
electrum-astronomy
gold-accounting
iron-Warcraft
lead-poisoning
pale steel-smithing
silver-healing
steel-construction
Valyrian steel- magic/higher mysteries

These are the links that have been mentioned - but not defined
brass, pewter, platinum, red gold, tin

I hope I have these correct.
(please be kind enough to point out any errors?)
Has anyone discovered the learning of the other links?
Have you found other links mentioned that I have not named?
Thank you for any help you can give.

The wiki outlines a few more and some analysis.

Thank you for the link Ser Leftwich. for some reason, I am unable to view the Wiki this evening. I get a 'service unavailable at this time' notification every time I try to get in there. I will try again later and hope to make a connection.

Thank you!

According to George R. R. Martin, it is possible to earn multiple links of the same metal; Multiple links of the same metal on a maester's chain signifies the expertise of the maester on the subject.[45] The metals of which a student can earn links for their chain include:

While there are only fifteen known links, and thus fifteen known subjects of expertise taught at the Citadel, there are twenty-one known current archmaesters of the Citadel, for only eight of whom a specialism is known.[46] It is currently unknown if each of these archmaesters are specialized in a separate subject or whether multiple archmaesters can be specialized in the same subject.

Only one maester in one hundred holds a link of Valyrian steel.[40]

Hmm. I find it a little odd that they have a brass link, but no mention of a zinc link (zinc being a component of brass). At their technological level, mass extraction of zinc would be a problem, so they would treat it as semi-precious at the least. They did list bronze and then its components, copper and tin and also electrum with its components, gold and silver.

At least aluminum wasn't listed. That would be laughable.
