Historical parallels with real kings for targaryens?

Dany is definitely Abdalrahman, the Falcon of the Quraysh. The last scion of a powerful ruling dynasty (Ummayad/Targaryen) overthrown in conquest (Abbasid/Baratheon). Abdalrahman spent his years on the run, fleeing from the new regime bent on killing him for his connection to the former ruling house. Leaving the ancient capital of his house, Abdalrahman wandered across the Middle East and North Africa, eventually making his way to Spain where he established his own kingdom, becoming a fine ruler. Whereas Dany will come westward to reclaim her birthright, Abdalrahman was content carving out his own kingdom on another continent.

Mad King Aeris is definitely the Roman emperor Nero. Nero put the Rome on fire, and Aerys would have done the same with King's Landing if weren't for Jaime Lannister. And emperor Nero was murdered by his own praetorian guard just like Aerys was murdered by his own member of Kingsguard.

I think your thinking of Caligula. Nero committed suicide

Most historicans today say that Nero didnt put Rome on fire. He just wasnt that popular among the people who wrote history down at that times. And amongst Christ. Also he ordered a slave to murder him.

Caligula would be far more fitting. Caligula started like Aerys full of promises and hopes. After a while he fled into dreams (building a biggerpalace city)

Certainly similarities, but not even Aerys was that nuts. Caligula is more like Joff

Young Griff has big similarities to Perkin Warbeck who posed as one of the "Princes in the tower". Perkin was claiming to be the last male Plantagenet, as YG is presented as the last male Targaryen.

Or closer to out own times there's Anna Anderson who claimed to be  Anastasia Romanov.
