Award-winning Don Winslow, author of the lauded Cartel Trilogy, has revealed that his books The Border, The Cartel and The Power Of The Dog have been optioned by FX Network and will be turned into an ‘epic’ TV series. Deadline says about the trilogy: The book trilogy spans a 45 year period and follows a DEA agent named Art Keller through America’s long-running war on drugs. The through line is a blood feud between the DEA agent and Mexican drug kingpin Adan Berrera. Much like the actual drug war, the books are often shocking in brutality and raw in humanity, portraying Mexican cartel power struggles, narcos and cops on both sides of the border, traffickers and drug mules, lawyers, journalists, junkies, teen hit men, asylum-seeking children and political corruption from Mexico poppy fields to the White House. The Sinner renewed for a third series Quote The first two series of USA Networks’ The Sinner (shown on Netflix and BBC Four in the UK and across the world) have been very close to being classics. The anthology series stars Bill Pullman as a troubled detective, and in the first series we had Jessica Biel stabbing someone seemingly out of the blue, and then, in series two, it was the turn of Carrie Coon to portray an ambiguous cult leader. The Hollywood Reporter says that… Pullman will return to reprise his role as Detective Harry Ambrose in the third season, which follows the character as he investigates a car crash and uncovers a crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career. Matt Bomer, currently starring on DC Universe’s Doom Patrol and earning Emmy buzz for his season-long guest role on NBC’s Will and Grace, will portray the series regular role of Jamie, a Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident. The easy option of course is following a clone who doesn’t interact with Sarah at all - same world, same nagging issue that the audience know someone is a monitor, otherwise totally different. or maybe we get to see the black hole Cal fell into...(I believe it’s called HBO...) Ran Posted March 28, 2019 Share Posted March 28, 2019 The Asunda story is rather remarkable. I've never heard of Sebastian A. Jones or his work before, but he seems to have basically single-handedly leveraged conventions and Kickstarter to fund Stranger Comics, his imprint, and seems to have very thoughtfully approached things from the perspective of generating a fantasy world IP. It reminds me a little bit of Crossgen, who were basically created with the primary idea of generating IP that could be turned into film and television. The fact that all of his promotional videos feature his art director as a key figure, and the amount of artwork that has been generated, I suspect that was always the dream as well. I have no idea if the comics are any good (I found a few pages and excerpts in reviews that made the art seem decent-to-good, but the actual setting seems a fairly derivative mish-mash and it's more sword and sorcery than epic fantasy), but the increasing number of backers for the Kickstarters certainly suggests he found a passionate, if niche, audience.
