The new straight-to-series comedy explores what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris (Gosselaar's role) gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools and proposes the affected students be sent to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the overprivileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality. Lopez and Berkley will return to play their respective characters A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano in what sources say are new roles as parents.

And some sort of Battlestar Galactica reboot to be made by Sam Esmail, of Mr. Robot fame.

"BSG fans, this will NOT be a remake of the amazing series @RonDMoore launched because ... why mess with perfection? Instead, we’ll explore a new story within the mythology while staying true to the spirit of Battlestar. So say we all!" Esmail tweeted Tuesday.

Can't say I'm thrilled. Given Mr Robot, i suspect we'll be constantly hit over the head with "who's a cylon" and "can we trust what anyone sees" which wound up being the worst aspects of Moore's version. Then again esmail is talented so he's maybe not a one trick pony and can surprise me with something different. The potential is there.

Andrew Scott to Play 'Talented Mr. Ripley’ in Showtime Series

Quote

The cast of Fleabag continues to book big projects. Three days after Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s late Amazon comedy swept the Emmys, season-two breakout Andrew Scott (aka “Hot Priest” on the show) has firmed up a deal to star as book and film character Tom Ripley for a Showtime series based on Patricia Highsmith’s novels.

Showtime’s adaptation, Ripley, has received a straight-to-series order of eight episodes after writer-director Steven Zaillian sparked a bidding war when he first took the project out earlier this year. Ripley is based off of Highsmith’s quintet of books, though many perhaps know the character best from the 1999 film adaptation The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett and Matt Damon in the title role.

Zaillian will write and direct the entire first season of Ripley, which follows the titular character from 1960s New York to Italy after he’s hired by a wealthy man to retrieve his vagabond son and return him to America. Deceit, fraud, murder and, if it’s anything like the movie, palpable sexual tension ensue.

The recipient of a BAFTA Award and a British Film Independent Award, Scott’s other credits include Spectre, King Lear, The Hour, Foyle’s War and HBO’s upcoming His Dark Materials.

World on Fire

World on Fire

Tonight 9pm, BBC One

An all-star ensemble cast tells the story of the first year of the second world war from Poland, Britain and Berlin. A steely-eyed Helen Hunt plays ruthless American journalist Nancy, who is reporting the Nazi ascendancy from Berlin, while Sean Bean is the conscience-torn Mancunian pacifist whose daughter Lois (Julia Brown) finds herself embroiled in the anti-fascist movement. A knotty, suspenseful tale which places human stories squarely within the currents of major historical change.
