What Cause the Long Night?

Recommended Posts

This is my theory I think the BloodStone Emperor was trying to submit the Black Oil Meteor from the Space with a magic spell it backfires on him. The Black Oil Meteor came down from the heavens and blast the citizens of The Last Great Empire blast cause the people turn into the Cold Ones/Others/White Walkers.  The dust from impact of meteor cause the blocking of sun rays and magic cause the seasons to be out of whack. If you have better ideas please put them down.

Cool theory will not lie although thought the others were just always there as their own species like giants, deep ones, children of the forrest etc. Never occurred to me that they might have been created

Thanks You it look like that you only one who think so.  In the show I don't think that the Others are made by Children or any other race they are own race Former citizens of The Great Empire.

I think it was because the Sun went down for a bit longer than usual

What's usual?  Something that happens every 10K years will appear inconsistent because people live short lives.  The culling might be part of the bigger plan within mother nature.

I subscribe to @LmL''s moon meteor theory.

There was once a second moon and as Doreah states to Dany in Got,

Quote

"He told me the moon was an egg, Khaleesi," the Lysene girl said. "Once there were two moons in the sky, but one wandered too close to the sun and cracked from the heat. A thousand thousand dragons poured forth, and drank the fire of the sun.

If a comet, like the one we see in CoK, were to hit this second moon, it would explain why people thought a million dragons poured forth.

We also know that Xaro calls Dany's dragons a "flaming sword above the world." This is another good description of what a meteor shower would look like which would have caused The Long Night. Think "Storm of Swords."

The Long Night is also directly related to the sacrifice of Nissa Nissa by Azor Ahai as her cry was said to leave a crack on the moon.

LML explains it a lot better than I can.

Those two essays explain it quite well.

This is also the theory I’ve subscribed too, ever since I first heard @LmL explaining it.
