Anyway, to Littlefinger and Roose I'd add Doran Martell… What a stupid scene!

I totaly forgot about Doran. Yep, that was poorly done. I never cheered for Cersei except when she killed Ellaria and that little brat (I don't even know which of the Sandsnakes it was).

The worst part was that in the matter of minutes, he established himself as a true badass. And then he died off screen. I mean, that was stupid.

Please, tell me you jest? Oh sweet baby jeezus...

Too many to list to be honest.

But Jon Snow, Ned Stark, Robb Stark, LF and Roose Bolton are probably my top 5.

Talisa's foetus being stabbed in the womb was atrocious, but I really disliked the show's version of the RW, so thought those were all pretty bad.

It was Tyene, the one with the knives.

Talisa is another one for me. I know that it served a purpose out-of-universe because they needed to tie up a loose end and that meant Talisa and her unborn child could not remain alive. But I don't really understand from an in-universe perspective, since theoretically Robb wouldn't want to insult Walder Frey by bringing the reason why he broke his oath into the same place as him. It's what earned Jon Snow a spot on Lady Catelyn's shit list because Ned brought Jon to Winterfell as an infant as if he was parading his infidelity (even though he wasn't) in front of her.

Doran and Trystane. It was making absolutely no sense if the purpose was initially to avenge Elia and her children. Oberyn died with no one but himself to blame. No reason to kill Trystane to avenge him.

Yeah, I think in that case, it served mainly the purpose of Talissa and her unborn child dying. And also to establish Walder and Roose as the new evil motherfuckers. After that incident those two remained in fearfull memory for the viewer.

Blackfish died off-screen. Yes. But in the show he is not an important character. He was shown in two or three episodes in season 3, and then never again, until season 6.Thus killing him off-screen didn't felt that bad for me.

He is not that major character in the books either. But, the point here is that you builthim up as a true badass and when the moment of fight came, it happened offscreen. Talking about a letdown...

Oh, I wish... Every line he uttered in that episode was a badassery on highest level. He watched Edmure and Freys and didn't flinch, he insulted Jaime with such joy and when Edmure, threatened by Jaime wanted to surrender Riverrun (and BF), he escorted Brienne and Podrick to the boat, saying to them "I will die in my own home". Instead of going with them and helping Sansa.

And he died off screen.

"I"m disappointed"… That was great… Clive Russel really stole the show… and he died off screen :bang:

Here is the explanation of the Diector Mylod, why he decided to let Blackfish die off-screen: "He’s a man who carries a lot of shame for not being in the right place at the right time at the Red Wedding. He’s carried that shame and here was a chance for at least a bit of personal redemption to give himself that moment of dignity. I didn’t want to see the moment of the sword going into him or whatever it may be. I didn’t want to see that, I didn’t gain anything from it. I wanted him to have that warrior’s death and I was happy to leave that offscreen. So it was really just a question of choice. I expect that one could make an equally compelling argument either way. That was the writer’s choice and I fully agreed with it."

I would like to see the other Version, but I get where Mylod comes from. The moment he said goodbye to Briene, it was clear he was going to die (literally speaking). So it comes down to wheather you want to show that too. As I said, I would, but I understand the directional choice Mylod made. That is why I don't think his death was poorly done. But I understand if you see it otherwise.

These explanations are even more hilarious than what I can think of... For a man full of shame, one would actually think he would do something to personally redeem himself. He would be redeeming more helping Sansa in the name of the King he "failed" and his dead niece, instead of dying for... What exactly did he die for?

Honestly, sometimes not saying anything is better. That way I can hope that did some things unintentionally. That it was just a mishap.

Who gives a shit what you were? Do you have anything to add, why the script, the directing, the acting was bad? If not, feel free to not coment. At first I thought I just didn't make my question clear enough. And I explained what I meant. Now I realise, you still don't get what a television critic is. If you think Ned Starks death was done poorly, you have no idea about this medium. And also you should'nt watch GoT, since clearly this is not your show.

Everyone got it, what was meant, except of you it seems. I guess you just want to rant.

Don't argue with Mystical, he is an expert on stupid.

And you are a critic? On what do you base that? Your language alone suggests that you aren't. No critic worth their money needs to attack a person like that or use that language in order to engage in conversation or defend their position. Btw any critic should consider all angles, like I did when choosing my list of people and I even spelled out the many ways deaths could be considered stupid. All I did was respond to something YOU brought up first, that hindsight was needed to trace the path to Ned's death. All I said was that's not true for some, including me. I never said it was badly executed, something that I have said already.

So why didn't you attack the person who engaged me with their response? It was their fault, not mine, that it kept being a topic. I was responding to someone else (what does that have to do with you anyway?) who also, like you, seems to favor going for harsh language when nothing else works and I responded in kind, defending my death choices. Why not attack that person instead of me so that you don't get responses you don't wanna read?

And btw, you should have also specified that this thread is for television critics. Then I would have never come in here because I'm not one.

But don't worry, I'm done in this thread. I don't like limited discussions like this that only seem designed as an ego boosting 'look how much of an awesome critic I am' and doesn't allow for a wider, more open minded critical thinking.

I thought Roose Bolton's death was pretty dumb. He's spends the entire series as a calculating, careful schemer, then dies when he gives his homicidal son a hug for no reason. Did he just not realise how a trueborn son would threaten Ramsay? Did he think that Ramsay wouldn't murder him when he got the chance? Did he not think about it at all? Lame.

Arrogant, I thought. Roose was an incredibly arrogant person, and that was his blind spot. Of course the show also has the karmic touch of Roose being killed the same way that he killed Robb, but otherwise it really does seem to come down to him honestly believing that he had sufficient hold over Ramsay. That Ramsay needed him more than he needed Ramsay. And that was arrogance.

As the series progressed, so the number of idiotic deaths became higher. Littlefinger takes the cake, no doubt in that. Doran Martell and Roose Bolton are close seconds. And of course, we have to mention Blackfish. That one was... I can't even...

This was the turning point of death scenes to me. I didn't care for Doran's death either but I was ready for the whole sand snake issue to go away so I didn't really care at that point how they did it. But the blackfish dying off screen. Awful. He should have gone out like a badass. Then it seems like every death after that one was just awful.

Barristan Selmy

This guy was supposed to be the most badass fighter.  When he was dismissed from the Kingsguard he states (and shows) that "even now I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake".

He should have gone down like a boss, so it's a little hard to accept him being swamped by a handful of mooks and then be taken out by a lucky blow.

Alexander Siddig, one of the great actors of TV, could have nailed Doran had he been given anything to work with. I love Doran as a book character, was over the moon when I heard Siddig (my favorite TV doctor) would play him and to see Dorne subplot being ended like that. It was rather awful.
