Thorbearius
I'd like this to be a spoiler-free thread, in case I decide to watch the show. 1) Does the first season work as a selfcontained story or does it end on a cliffhanger with a lot of open ends? 2) Is it worth watching or should I just read the book instead? (I will get around to read the book anyhow someday, but I think the skin trade is higher up on my to read list)
Ran
The general reception has been negative. It's just a short novella, and stretching it to a full season of a show seems to have proved its undoing. My understanding is that it ends on something of an open-ended finale that leaves a lot of questions but can sort of be seen as a complete ending. I say "my understanding" because, I admit, the reviews made me think many of my concerns with the project were borne out. Which is why its first season is its last, as SyFy cancelled it. This perfectly sums it up.
