About Bronn and the whores, King's Landing looks like a ghost town. Sex prices have probably cratered. (Though there are a bunch of sailors and mercenaries freshly arrived.)

I hated most of the episode. It has become too cheeky. They seem to be ripping off scenes from other movies or shows and recycling some of their own earlier scenes.

Jon and Danny going out for a nice little romantic picnic was totally against the mood of the episode. Everyone else is trying their best to defend against a huge threat and these two are flying around on their dragons.

King's Landing is devoid of any actual story. There are no people. I guess its inhibited by Carol, Urine, Qyburn and a couple of guards and no one else.

And as usual Emilia Clark's acting sucks. I like Dany in the books (though she is not my favorite), but in the show she is the most annoying character and I think it is party due to Emilia's dead pan acting. She keeps on saying 'but I am the Queen' - reminds me of Joeffrey saying something similar in an earlier season and Tywin saying something along the line 'You are not a king if you have to remind people that you are'.

The only scene I liked in this episode was Jaime-Bran re-union. Even though there were no dialogues the actors were able to convey everything to the viewers. Kudos to NCW and IHW.

You wait for ever for that date with that awesome some one and then they do or say some thing that make you go ugh. Dragon riding Ugh. Really! and apparently the Riverlands have vanished with out a trace. Bronn and his tit fest. Hey show runners here's an idea, Bronn is playing dice and winning with a bunch of Lanister soldiers. Their morose lamments about lost friends and colleagues is putting a downer on his game. Scene would of played better.
Well I've got another five dates with this show, I hope they don't start to do the equivalent of flossing at the table.

I still don't understand why the Others in the show leave these artworks of their base. Seems like a waste of good wights. I also don't get why they left the Umber kid there. To do what? Be stuck on a wall and lamely slash at any apparent stragglers until he is easily set on fire? Apparently it's a message, so the Night King knows there's survivors? I mean, if you're going to leave some wights to kill any wandering stragglers, why not leave at least a dozen?

Just remembered a few more things to rant about.

* What happened to Riverlands, Dorne and the Reach? Since both Randyl Tarly and Dickon are dead who is in charge in the Reach? What about the Tullys?

* Post-sex scene in Kings Landing was totally unnecessary. So was the brothel scene with Bron.

* Sansa being so childish. In the books, and in earlier seasons Sansa has always been portrayed as a perfect lady who used courtesy as her armor. Now she is so sassy, it felt totally out of character.

Again I find myself utterly dumbfounded as to why the showrunners decided that now is the right time to talk about marriage between Jon and Dany when the perfect time to have done so was on Dragonstone? I mean, I know most of the writing on the show has become devoid of all logic, but seriously? Now? Not when they were negotiating between the King in the North and the Queen of Dragonstone, the two most marriable people in the Seven Kingdoms?

Anyway, bad things: 

1) Tyrion still believes Cersei is trustworthy; okay?

2) Softcore porno foursome with Bronn and prostitutes...lame. 

3) Some of the reunions lacked emotional weight. 

4) Cat fight between Daenarys and Sansa was pretty dumb. Sansa is supposed to be the smartest person in the show now (okay...), so why is she just picking fights with the person with an ex-slave army and two dragons? Does intelligence in GoT mean that you have to out "mean-girl" the new, hot girl at schoo--er..Winterfell? 

5) Jon riding a dragon; not the concept, but the execution. I mean, what the hell was with that scene? I would have preferred this to be a bit more in-keeping with the Jon-Dany conflict they're trying to setup (if that plot thread even goes anywhere). Ya know, you could have Dany be incredulous about it, or initially happy, but then disappointed or threatened as it fundamentally changes the bond between her and Viserion, etc. I don't know, those suggestions aside, the Jon-Dany stuff was so tone deaf to the rest of the episode. 

6) King's Landing sucked. Nothing happens there; plus whatever now Cersei has an army so there can be conflict. 

7) Euron is still lame. 

8) Overall pretty boring pacing; feels like nothing happens and a retread of everything we've already seen. If you wanted to keep the audience guessing about Jon, you should not have given it away like three times already. If you wanted us to feel something about the reunions of these characters, you should have done it once and had a scene with all of them together (Starks, I mean). 

Also, while the ending scene was necessary to set the stage for the next episode and assure us that the Night's King is coming, I kinda felt like...what was the logic of "sending a message" to the party from Winterfell? And, I mean, what was the message? That they're all going to die? I mean, the guy is riding an undead dragon leading an army of undead things. Too much showing and not enough looming. 

Good things: 

1) Hey look, Dany might face some consequences for killing two nobles in cold blood...better late than never?

2) Arya reunions weren't terrible; though, to be honest, the director and screenwriters missed an opportunity to get a much more emotionally satisfying performance from the actors. Not to mention craft a much better scene for them to act within. 

3) Jamie-Bran was perhaps the best done reunion in the whole episode.

Yeah, I'm stumped by the Umber message too. What's... the point? What's he trying to say? He's just showing them where the Others were created? Why leave one wight, strung on a wall, to uselessly slash at them? I guess they were trying to be scary but... no, it didn't work for me.

Mostly nitpicks as I liked the Ep.

Without some establishing shots, rescuing Yara seemed like Ramsey's 20 good men raid.

 

Urine is just awful.  How is he still a part of the show?

 

20,000 men in the Golden Company.  Wow.  Ok.

 

Tyrion's belief in Cersei due to her "pregnancy".

Definetely. The main problem with the reunion was imo that there were so many of them. And all of them but Jaime seeing Brann (that was good!) were "hey, long time no see!" with several so-called cool phrases.

It's just bizarre how they disappeared with Ghost. When was this? right before Jon died, right?

Tbh they missed a perfect opportunity to get rid of Ghost during Jon's resurrection. I was very sure that he would be resurrected only at the expense of Ghost's life. It would also make sense as "you must pay for life", in the way that Berric looses her memory (at least in the books iirc). Maybe it wouldn't be GRRM's intended end for Ghost but it would be better than Ghost being invisible which is beyond ridiculous.

Cersei and Jaime being incest lovers seems to be a common knowledge at this point, very like "Everyone knows Littlefinger is evil" and "Everyone knows Jon is a zombie".

On the serious note though: I wonder about what's up with wights and water too. In the books there is a "dead things in water" line which is sent to Jon by Nightwatch men sent to Hardhome. I've always assumed that this simply means that the wights are in the water aka water doesn't bother them but it seems that the situation is different in the show.

Agree. All these symbols have not been explained at all. So wights are zombies whose hobby is art, I guess? Yeah, sure. The most stupid thing about the kid wight is imo that he can stab someone only if that someone comes as close as let's say 40cm to him. I don't know how about you but I would not come that close to a dead kid surrounded by stumps. Although the bloody decoration didn't make sense, I admit that it was quite effective though.

The reunions are more useful for the fans than for plot reasons. The dragon training dragged on too long and I don't understand the Umber kid being nailed to the wall unless it produces magic. But I guess that's also exposition to the viewer. And Bronn and whores, that's what every fan wants I guess.

It seems that the lack of books produces some waferthin script with lots of fill. But perhaps the other episodes will be more satisfying.

Overall, I liked the episode. Why talk everything bad? 

REUNIONS

True, some of the reunions could have been more emotional. On the other side, have you ever lived through a real reunion after seven years not seeing each other and having developed significantly? It's always a strange feeling in the beginning, old emotions but new facts.

1. I liked the Arya/Jon reunion, it was sort of realistically. Starting somehow cold, but getting warmer in seconds. She still sees him as family, they hugged closely, smiled. It's fine for me. 

2. The reunion of Sansa and Tyrion was very good. Distanced as expected, some common ground but a lot of discrepancies, her last sentence about him being not so smart after all in still believing Cersei was great. 

3. I really liked the Sam/Jon reunion with all its conflicting emotions, but instantly being close to each other again. They were not separated for so long and they bond again more easily. That is realistic. I liked that Sam told him about his parentage.

4. The Bran/Jamie cold stare whether unsure glance was great, but some words could have been exchanged. Anyway, great scene.

5. Arya and the Hound... again, somewhat realistically, not any faked emotions, but I had wished for a bit more. 

6. Arya and Gendry... very well done. They were even flirting with each other, banter each other a bit. What could you expect more than that? Personally, I am not a fan of an Arya/Gendry romance, but the reunion was done nicely.

STORYLINE

+ The North was unhappy with Jon Snow bending the knee. Realistic. They don't give up too easily. They're suspicious and disappointed.

- What I don't like is that Daenerys expects Jon to be able to ride a dragon. Aren't only Targaryens supposed to do so? Does she know more about him? Or can anyone ride a dragon? This appears to be inconsistent. The dragon ride scenes were poorly made in my opinion. Unspectacular, on the border to boring. I expected more than that.

- Sansa is presented as smart now. I don't really feel this development. She was so naive and dumb, and now she is smart and courageous? That was too absupt in S7 and still is in S8. But we have to accept that she is supposed to have mellowed, smartened, developed. Strange, but the way it is. They even need Arya to state that Sansa is smart. Crazy.

+ I like the Umber scene with the symbol. Well done. Good effect. Again shows us that there is some reasoning, planning, some culture in the White Walkers. Not just dumb ice creatures coming to kill, but a species with an agenda.

- I didn't like that they set up Bronn to kill Jamie and Tyrion. That's too simple and Bronn should be beyond the point of trusting Cersei or just going for money. He's supposed to be a smart man.

In summary, the episode was too short, too little happened. I had wished for more and was expecting more than 51 min.
