Well, I didn't expect the zombie plot line to end completely this episode. I thought there would be a twist and the NK would survive in some form and march on to KL. I am pretty sure book Cersei's death is prior to the defeat of the NK. 

D&D seem to have decided that the dynastic politics rather than the climate change narrative is the core of the story. So three episodes finishing off the zombie plot line and three finishing off the war of the seven kingdoms as two separate issues. Not what I would have done but entirely justifiable.

With that structure, the characters that went are exactly the ones that are superfluous for the Cersei plot. We should have spotted them: Theon, Mel, minor northerners, decimate team Danny.

I am still fairly certain that the Hound takes out Cersei with help from Arya. In fact more so now.
