Oh God, Ser Arthur Dayne Two-Swords of the Morning. Along with cocky Ned. And the throwaway Howland. God, that scene sucked.

Hahahahahaha.  Two-Swords of the Morning.  Gods, that entire concoction was awful.  AWFUL!!  So AWFUL and cringe worthy that I can't even go look at it for a good PnL (Point and Laugh).  They really do ruin everything, everything.  And, I'm not one of those crazy Dayne/Lightbringer theorists or anthing, but if turning the only famous non Valyrian steel sword into.................two swords worth of nothing wasn't a giant FUCK YOU to book fans anyway, I don't know what was.

The first time I watched this episode, I was really loving it up until around the last 20 minutes or so; by that time I felt exhausted from all of the action going on, but with all of the constant action and no real losses or wins up until that time I was actually starting to get a teensy bit bored, I had to pause and take a lap around the living room.  How many times did we see Brienne, Jaime, Poderick, Grey Worm, Sam, etc. get overrun only to somehow come out still alive? For me, it felt like one fake-out after another, like when someone puts up a hand to smack you, and you react with a flinch, but after a few times you don't flinch anymore because the fear is gone; that's what the battle scene did to me after a while.

Also, I was really disappointed with Melisandre's whole presence, I was REALLY hoping she'd have Kinvara (what was the point of her, other than scaring Varys and getting her ppl to say good things about Dani?)  and the thousand Fiery Hand soldiers with her.  I feel like she ultimately didn't make or break the war effort, the blazing arakhs were very cool but they still went out in minutes, the Unsullied could've escorted someone with a torch to light the trenches, she gave a brief commentary on Beric's death and cryptically told Arya what to do, That was the great deed she needed to do,  then she kills herself?

Overall, Arya killing the NK was the biggest let down for me.  We've seen Jon deal with the dead and the NK for 7 seasons, he's got the most personal stake in the NK's demise, to let someone who has absolutely no connection to the NK kill him cheapens the act itself to me, you can't set up stuff and not have a payoff which is what that felt like in my humble opinion.  Jon should've killed the NK then Arya could check Cersei off her list, that is a setup and payoff that makes sense since we've known Arya hates Cersei since the 1st season.   Speaking of Cersei, I can't believe that she's prioritized as the Big Bad over a completely evil entity that plans on killing the entire planet.   If I were a soldier in the largest army the world has ever known and I survived the Battle at Winterfell, their's NO WAY I'd go to war again for whoever sits the Iron Throne, I wouldn't give a crap anymore.

I feel like the NK is a spit in the face of GRRM, he's exactly the type of character that GRRM hates! Just evil for the sake of being evil.  One of the best things about GRRM's writing is that he creates gray characters, complex individuals that are neither all good nor all bad, its almost as though D&D thought they could write/end GRRM's story better than GRRM can.

When the previous 3 eyed crow/raven said Bran wouldn't walk again but he would fly, was warging into the crows what he meant? Because I always got the feeling it meant Bran would warg a dragon; talk about anti-climatic, that must be the theme of this episode.  Lastly, what a waste of dragons!! I would've liked to see them more.

I know their are more problems I had with this episode but I can't think of them at the moment, all I know is that my first feeling after watching this episode was that I don't care what happens now, I could skip the last 3 episodes and not be bothered by it at all; I'll just wait for the book.

I agree, Dany deserves props for picking up a sword and at least attempting to defend herself, unlike that quitter in the crypts, Sandra, who didn't even bother to speak to her own people.  No, 'there is always hope' from her, not a song, a story, a prayer, nothing.  Moping around with a Lannister.

I will admit the Dothraki swords was a beautiful visual, but killing them as a people, and dinging everyone's IQ by 20 points, at least, for having this as a plan was not worth it.  Better writers, even hard working, looking to please interns could have come up with something else.

Bran warging the ice dragon under the NK's icy ass would have been awesome!

Actually, Bran doing anything besides delivering statements in a psychopathically flat tone would be awesome. Oh, and I forgot, he warged some corws again. Wow.

And that is also a horrible downgrade from what she was able to during Blackwater. Pffft.

Another of those misteries is why the NK left that simbol in in the first ep? what was even the point? They tried to give him a backstory just to kill him in ep 3 without using any of it?

I agree with everything you said...

Their characterization is so schizophrenic.  Last week, they tell us she's the smartest person Arya ever knew, making her, by default, the smartest person in Westeros if she's smarter than Tywin Lannister. And she's talking smack and policy and food supplies like she cares for the smallfolk.  This week, shes' a total defeatist loser who speaks to no one in the crypts but Tyrion, hiding behind a doorway the whole time, smallfolk be damned.

Bran could have warged viserion, he could have warged the NK, he could have warged ww near the NK to attack the NK, hell he could even have warged wights to have and effect in the battle. Like he wargs all the wights in winterfell and the battle pauses for a second for someone to do something...

There are several good ideas! Him warging some crows to see the battle under the weirdwood tree should not even be acepted as an idea...

what would the dothriaki do if mel hadn t appeared? They were already there ready to charge… They didn t deserve dragonglass weapons? their weapons don t kill wights?

They repeated the design I think three times, in the first ep, then in an ep with Mance and then in the one just last week.  And now, they're all dead so it all had no meaning, nothing more than 'hey, we could do a design with severed limbs, how cool is that...awesome, put it in!"

Also, some more deaths should have occured, there are way too many characters long past their expiry date . Jaime probably had to survive to finish his arc with Cersei, or else he should have been the one dying for Dany. Brienne should have died protecting Sansa or Arya, and at least one Stark should have gone down doing something truly epic (like, sacrificing him/herself to off the NK).

The smartest person in the world uses every oportunity she has to anger a woman with dragons… I think this should end the conversation...

We might yet find out that the whole battle plan was actually Sansa's doing because she knew they didn't have enough food for such a huge army

At least that was just something Arya said. They demonstrated Arya being perhaps the greatest swordsman in Westeros, because she beat the woman who beat Jaime, the Hound, and Loras Tyrell. And the Hound at least fought his brother to a stand-still. So Arya might be as good as the Mountain, who even managed to kill the Viper.

House Stark has the smartest person in Westeros AND the greatest sword. Plus it has Jon hanging around, who's been laid like twice. So he has that going for him.

I think the objective is to have a bunch of deaths in ep 5 to make that the most epic batle ever...

The problem is that nobody cares about anyone in cersei's side besides the mountain! The GC arrived 5 min ago and euron is kind of a hero. He killed the sand snakes and fucked the queen. I like the show version of him...

Syrio would be proud that's for sure.  Yes, she must be the best fighter in Westeros, maybe she will fight the Mountain that would be hilarious.

So, smartest person, best warrior, three eyed raven and poor Jon, who hasn't had a good idea in about 3 seasons, but he still has good hair.

I want Qyburn to die. Not because I dislike him, but because I don't like what he represents. But I wouldn't really care that much if we never saw him again.

The re-death of Zombie Mountain, on the other hand, is the only thing I'm still looking forward to.

Honestly, that new haircut isn't that great.

And, yeah, Jon has been showing signs of prolonged oxygen deprivation for quite some time.
