Kajjo
Let's make this thread dedicated to clear reference infos about deaths and survivals, without any moaning and ranting, with limiting discussion to clear references to survivals/death sceens. DIED (in reverse chronological order of death) Melisandre (suicide as ending scene, her destiny fulfilled) Jorah (after protecting Daenerys) Viserion (crumbles like a wight after Night King dies) all White Walkers (shatter into icy shards) Night King (killed by Arya, shatters into icy shards) Theon (killed by Nightking) Beric (protecting Arya) Lyanna Mormont (killing the giant) Edd Tollett (saving Samwell) SURVIVED Arya Stark (in Godswood after killing the Nightking) Bran Stark (in Godswood with Arya) Jon Snow (only survives Viserion because Nightking and all wights die in that moment) Daenerys Targaryen (protected by Jorah) Drogon (end scene protectively covering Daenerys) Sansa Stark (group scene in the crypts) Tyrion (group scene in the crypts) Gilly (group scene in the crypts) Little Sam (group scene in the crypts) Missandei (group scene in the crypts) Varys (group scene in the crypts) Sandor Clegane (end scene with Melisandre) Davos Seaworth (battlement scene while Melisandre's end scene) Tormund (battlement scene while Melisandre's end scene) Gendry (battlement scene while Melisandre's end scene) Grey Worm (battlement scene while Melisandre's end scene) Rhaegal (escaping severely wounded, seen in E4 preview) Ghost (seen in E4 preview in group before funeral) Brienne (seen on ramparts after defeat) Jaime (seen on ramparts after defeat) Podrick (seen on ramparts after defeat) UNCLEAR Samwell Tarly (probably survived lying in the battlements) Alys Karstark (probably dead as part of Theon's group) EDIT: I regularly update this post to reflect the most up-to-date knowledge. Definitely, also a helmet less Unsullied is stood with Gendry and Tormund outside the gate in the same scene it's almost certainly Grey Worm, but it's difficult to tell because the entire episode was so fucking dark. Gertrude
So what you're demonstrating is that this whole battle - while killing a lot of cannon fodder - had no real sacrifice for us to feel the cost of it. Yep, sounds right.

Corvinus85
What about Alys Karstark? You can spot her escorting Bran to the godswood in the opening shot. If she was there, all those people died. So is another northern house gone for good?

Yep, sounds right. Well, the named characters who did die (especially Jorah and Theon) wants a word. And for what it's worth, Daenerys lost more or less her entire army. I did expect more people to die though. That Tormund, both of Missandei/Greyworm and both of Jamie/Brienne all survived surprised me, but none of the deaths surprised me. Gertrude
Not trying to diminish the deaths of Jorah and Theon, but they were the expected sacrifices. Pretty much everyone's reaction that I've seen is "Whew - that wasn't as bad as we thought it would be." If that's the reaction, then they've failed to create a meaningful cost to this war. L’Age d’or
Pretty much nobody of consequence died, for a show that got its rep for being ruthless it turned out cowardly in the end.
Wagshell
So despite almost all of the knight/warrior characters being right out there at the very front when the huge wall of undead hit them in vast, overwhelming numbers, only Edd was killed. Everyone else died in smaller skirmishes elsewhere. Really felt we should have lost a couple of proper characters there. It was an impossible, hopeless slaughter and they were right in the middle of it. Skill would have counted for almost nothing. I get a bit annoyed by being shown massive numbers of undead all approaching and attacking in numbers, somehow the heroes are always shown fighting one at a time, often with time to turn and talk to each other or come to each other's rescue, because the undead decided to give them some space for a while. Amaretto
Alys is probably dead. The actress hinted that some scenes involving her had been cut from the final episode.
