Just calling it now about Dany's and Jon's army

Recommended Posts

Last Hearth lies in nearly a straight line between Eastwatch (where the Wall was breached) and Winterfell.

Deepwood Mott is only slightly north of Winterfell, and miles to the west. If the NK was focused on reaching Winterfell and Bran, I can see his army attacking Last Hearth as it's in their path, but I see no reason why they would go that far out of the way to take out the Glovers.

We got sprawling shots of Jon wading through the Winterfell courtyard, seeing nothing but dead bodies and named character. Arya had a whole stealth section inside Winterfell because a lot of the wights moved into Winterfell and run out of things to kill. You're telling me tens of thousands of fighters were present in the last episode that survived?

Yes because Dany or Jon are going to sit on the Frozen Throne

People talking about Lord Glover saving the day?

That man should be rooted out of his keep and hanged for an oath breaker. Twice over

Don't think anyone's talking about Glover saving the day...

More illustrating to others that there are more men left in the North than those that survived Winterfell.

If Jon  and Daenerys still have an army to raise this “Great war” had truly no impact on anything at all.

Barely any named characters died and now you’re telling me even the army survived? There should be like 200 people left alive. Everybody was being slaughtered outside of, inside and under Winterfell when our fanfavorite badass female character teleported into the godswood and stabbed the mother ship.

Whatever they conjure an army out of will take that one last microgram of sense episode 3 had the potential to have.

Well, there is Yara. And some of the Northern houses still haven't manned up. Who exactly is in the Riverlands these days? Is it too late for Danny to call the Second Sons over?

oh yeah, and there is this little thing the show forgot about called the Kingdom of Porne.

Not entirely out of the question to raise an army out of some of the remaining Northern Lords (not a high % of army here), the Riverlands, Vale, Reach, Dorne, and possibly the Stormlands.

They already should have marched into King's Landing and put Cersei's head on a pike for too many crimes to name and having no claim to the throne. I don't know if they're more likely to get up and act now.

Exactly this. We saw the Dothraki obliterated. The Unsullied mostly stayed outside the walls and were decimated. The undead completely poured through the open gate appearing to kill most everyone who wasn't a named character, so that would include the Wildlings, the Vale soldiers, the northern soldiers and the remaining Ironborn. They didn't just breach the gate either. They took over the walls, were inside all the rooms of the castle. Hell, they were even in the crypts. Jon was running around in the final shots against the wight dragon with no other humans around. Even after it was all over, they showed maybe 5 or 10 humans standing.

Yet I guarantee Dany will have some large army when she marches towards King's Landing showing the Great War was completely meaningless. When you can generate soldiers like a real-time strategy game as this show has done countless times, battles and lost soldiers have no bearing on things.

Didn’t they say a lady Frey would be featured this season. Maybe what’s left of the Freys might side with Jon to apologise for the red wedding. Edmure is still alive. He might call his men and fight along side Sansa to apologise for the death of her mother. Yara and the Iron born might join up with Daenerys and accompany her south. The Glovers are still around. It might not be a huge army but with two dragons that can destroy buildings and walls in a matter of seconds/minutes, it might just be big enough to make the Lannister army join Jaime and leave Cersei with only Eurons mutes and the Golden Company.

In theory none of the Kingdoms barring the Iron Islands under Euron and the Westerlands have any reason to back Cerscei. Jon Arryn in the Vale has backed the North, the Riverlands were ravaged by Lannisters and their Lord the Tully's deposed for guest murderers, the Stormlands support house Baratheon which Gendry can be made the legitimate heir too and have no reason to see a Lannister sit on the throne, Samwell could be made head of house Tarley who would have a claim to Lord Paramount of the Reach, given the reason for the Nights Watch has ended and his "watch is over". The Reach (barring the Hightowers) may have unfinished business with the Lannisters for the Tyrell's. Dorne has some serious grudges to nurse. The Crownlands were always a bit of a hotbed for Targaryen loyalists.
Its not how the show will play out but she has a lot of room to build allies and she is one dragon short but one master assassin and one psychic tree wizard ahead of what Aegon the Conqueror started with.

Yara? She was captured by Euron and her fleet and army was destroyed in season 7. Yara maybe has a garrison at Pyke and that’s all there is.

The Northern houses shouldn’t be able to muster up more than a few hundred men. If they are, this while “Great War” was truely a big a fat nothing.

The Riverlands are done, they’ve been done since season 3. The Freys took control after the Red Wedding and somewhere in season 7 the Blackfish made an unsuccessful attempt to restore the Tullys. Jaime and Bronn matched Frey and Lannister forces to take Riverrun. Then Wolverine killed the Freys so I guess the Frey territories are in some sort of Wild West state? We have no information on these things. If there are some fighting men left there, they are most likely under Cersei’s control through the Lannister garrison that was left behind with the Freys.

I’m sure it’s not too late to get the second sons with this timeline. Euron sailed to essos and back in like two months. Daenerys just needs to take a dragon jet to raise Daario. (Because who doesn’t want more purposeless, lineless, third grade characters in the scenes?)

As for Dorne, probably another house took over running it, whose allegiances might still be for sale but I’m certain the show will not deal acknowledge the existence of 5 out of 7 kingdoms in the Seven Kingdoms. We have Cersei on one side and the Stargaryens on the other with her brothers.

The opening sequence of Season 8 shows how far the Army of the Dead had gotten in blue on its map of Westeros, from there you should be able to work out of places like Whitehave, Barrowtown and Torrhen's Square had survived.

I will check when I get home, but I fully expect than when people from places that were shown the dead had not yet reached at the start of last week, show up, the "experts" will be up in arms at the "how could they be alive" ;)

Despite episode three showing their army get oblitarated, next episode they will magically have enough soldiers to fight Cersei.

I predicted this is another thread as well.

They sure made it seem the Dothraki and Unsullied suffered at least about 95% casualties. Promise they will show more marching legions of Unsullied and some riding Dothraki.....and i'm gonna burst into tears when I see it.
