Erkan12
Let's think this way; We would've never thought Night King could resurrect a dead dragon and even use its abilities of flying and breathing fire. With that ability he destroyed the Wall. So, it means that Night King can use even magical abilities of the dead. This applies to Bran's magic too. If he kills Bran, then he could use Bran's greenseer abilities. This explains why he was obsesed with Bran and why he personally wanted to kill him, like he personally needed to touch Viserion before resurrecting it. It's just a theory. Damon_Tor
Well, he killed Bloodraven already. So if you're right shouldn't he already have those abilities?

Right, maybe his abilities passed on to Bran so he couldn't use it?

Damon_Tor
I think at a certain point we have to simply accept that the writers aren't concerned with character motivations and simply write their actions in such a way so as to result in the plot developments they require. Why did the Night King want Bran dead? Because they needed a reason for him to attack Winterfell and risk 8000 years of planning instead of simply letting them all starve to death. There's no motivation there beyond what the writers need to have happen.
That Westerosi Dude
The script said so. That is the only explanation given.
