They asked him to do one and he was too busy to make it, so there will be no GRRM cameo in the final season. Quote In the original unaired pilot I believe he played Illyrio Mopatis In the pilot Martin played an unnamed Pentoshi merchant at Daenerys's wedding, complete with a giant hat. Ian McNeice played Illyrio (and was replaced by Roger Allam for Season 1 proper). Because they recast Daenerys, they couldn't use any footage at all of George at the feast, so it was all shelved.
