Rant & Rave Without Repercussion [book and show spoilers]

Jaime was, as he said, hateful. Get the girl drunk and take advantage of her then loose her number. Maybe - MAYBE - Jaime will pull out of it, but that speech didn't seem like it.

She didn't seem that drunk, at least in the room. And it didn't feel like Jaime was taking advantage as much as finishing off what they ha started and showing her a good first time. It's unclear how much time they spent together, but definitely more than a night. Long enough for Danny to sail to Dragonstone and word to get back. Plus, Jaime planned to stay longer.

What I didn't care for was the sudden urgency. He already knew what Cersei was, and probably knew he'd have to deal with her at some ooint. Because he's partly responsible for her many crimes. But the show could have found a way to send him South without it being a mad dash in the middle of the night because reasons.

They were doing for a while for this episode. And then, the stupid started.

•Gendry is in love with Arya now? Having sex once shouldn’t be enough to do the trick.

•It’s funny to hear Bronn refer to Jaime and Tyrion as blond given their current states. Especially Tyrion. I guess Jaime is still kinda blonde up top?

• Jon betrays Ghost....what???!?!?!? Jon sends Ghost off to live with Tormund, because that’s totally in character. And then he can’t even give a clearly upset Ghost a pet goodbye? Fuck that shit.

•Viserion sure went down easy and the Iron Fleet completely embarrassed the others with their apparently unstoppable arsenal. Not sure what they were planning to do there...And Missandei is apparnetly specifically designated to be taken alive for the sole purpose of taunting Dany, because Cersei somehow knows Dany cares a lot about her? What

•Dany’s meager forces come within firing distance of Cersei’s ballistae and demand she surrender.  And somehow Cersei lets them leave alive? Well, except for poor Missandei. That was tragic and so unnecessary. I feel that could have been avoided.

•Tyrion starts marching past Qyburn to talk to Cersei because he is apparently tired of living.  Somehow he avoids being brutally shot down.

•Jaime suddenly decides he still likes Cersei and rushes off to the capital after hearing the side HE IS ON suffered heavy losses? Did he think Cersei wasn’t in trouble already? What? And way to completely fuck his character progression. That made no sense. It was so great seeing Jaime and Brienne together and they just ruined it.

I agree with this and I really don't get how the characters in show think Jon is such a great guy and worthy to be King. I mean, what has he done?

Jon is dumb and brave and handsome. That's enough for most people to like him. Because no one likes a know-it-all, and Jon is the exact opposite because he knows nothimg.

What he's done is mostly failed upwards. But he did successfully command forces at the Wall and Hardhome. He forged an alliance with Wildlings and built up an army with Sansa.

He was an idiot at the Battle of the Bastards, but he did put himself in harm's way and fight on the front line. Or rather ahead of the front line.

He forged an alliance with his auntie that brought over 100,000 troops and two supernatural creatures to fight the Army of the Dead. He...participated(?) in the fight against the Night King, who was somehow defeated by his little cousin.

His biggest thing is that he was the most important human voice in uniting the living against the dead, in the most important war in the history of Westeros. Which lasted an episode.

He also brought down the Wall, but I blame Tyrion.

And he got himself killed, but hey, who hasn't?

That's how he put it, love. But you know, heat of the moment and all. He just hammered scores of zombies, the world almost ended, suddenly he's not a bastard and theoretically inherits Storm's End. Recently he had sex with the hot girl who killed an Ice Demon last night, and she's nobility. He needs a lady and he might never see her again.

I hope he wasn't harboring love all these years. She was pretty young when they knew eachother. He had feelings for her I think maybe in the way you like your little sister's friend but wouldn't be attracted to her until she hit sixteen or whatever.

This show is totally unique.

Spoiler

In that the last 4 seasons are a parody of the first 4. I mean, have you seen anyone else doing that before? It's like going to a movie and you get Kevin Costner/Russell Crowe/Erroll Flynn as Robin Hood before the interval and then you get Mel Brooks' Men in Tights in the second half. How cool is that? Never been done before!

I really think they could've handled Jon and Ghost better. It was just so heart braking seeing Ghost so upset and then Jon not even able to say goodbye. He can give a proper goodbye to Sam, what about Ghost?

Rhaegal went down way too easily. It shouldn't be that easy to kill a dragon.

Jaime's story doesn't make sense any more. I hope he is going there to kill Cersei, but for some reason I doubt it.

Isn’t Gendry supposed to be a similar age to Arya?

and yeah I guess I didn’t think about the fact that they only knew each other before as kids. I imagine Gendry was supppsed to already be a teenager. Perhaps he always was close to her and then his feelings became sexual when he saw her again as a young woman. But that wouldn’t be love either. Definitely wasn’t considering how young she was back then, so scratch that it’s just weird he said he’s in love with her regardless. Will edit.

It’s crazy how much dumb stuff I don’t even think about that these threads make me cognizant of.

Such as the dragons not noticing the iron fleet, Winterfell seemingly being put back together, and Jaime and Tyrion not having Bronn killed after he left (maybe they did that offscreen).  Why would Bronn think he has leverage enough to get them to keep that promise anyways? Additionally, Cersei still not looking pregnant is quite odd.

So why did show characters make him King? I don't get why they named him their king and not Sansa their Queen.

Oh, no reason. Literally no reason. Little Lady Bear brought it up, and everyone was all yeah, okay.

Nevermind Ned Stark's trueborn daughter. All hail the Bastard of Winterfell, deserter of the Night's Watch and the guy who just made an ass of himself on the battlefield.

Now I've been thinking more about Daenerys' latte cup and come to the conclusion that everyone who thinks it was a set error are small-brained fools. It's obviously a really clever and subtle way to foreshadow time-traveling Bran.

In the final episode, when Bran is drawing his final breath after a duel with Euron where Bran warged into Euron and made him suffocate on his own big cock(tm), he will tell Arya: "remember Daenerys' coffee". And then we will not see Arya for the next 30 minutes until she comes jumping out of a Weirwood tree wielding an assault rifle in one hand and an avocado toast topped with a pumpkin spice latte in the other. Cersei will stare at her in disbelief before she delivers her final line: "Yippee ki-yay, brotherfucker!" and fills Cersei with some sweet lead of justice.

It's like, they are trying to hard to echo moments that happened earlier in the season.... no matter how forced it seems

I will be disappointed if this is not the ending

You know what I'll admit it. I used to think the showrunners liked Jon snow/kit but I've realised they really don't. They're giving him the Stannis/Jaime treatment but they have to keep him around. However, that doesn't mean they won't be petty at every turn. He's mocked, robbed of Ghost and made to look like a clueless fool. What did Jon/Kit even do to warrant this much hate from these assess?

I will be honest, some parts are good and some are bad. I’ve long thought in the books that when Dany lands in Westeros (Tyrion and Arianne) will plan to usurp Dany while she fights the Others.

However, the show seems to want to make Sansa dislike Dany for unknown reasons and for some reason they are trying really hard to portray Dany as unhinged. This is what I have a gripe with. Burning down the Red Keep is not a good idea to her Advisors, that’s fine but it’s also their job to find a better way.  The people of KL don’t like Cersei, they can use that to their advantage or give Varys a crossbow and have him sneak in the Red keep to kill her. There are so many different possibilities but no, Varys is planning to crown Jon instead :dunno:

I don’t know why they keep harping Jon is a better leader when in reality he is not. Why do the Starks need to have a moral higher ground in this when in reality they are pushing a different claimant that they prefer.

Also, that scene with Ghost was terrible. Ghost was bloody and dirty and Jon didn’t even touch him. If that was my pet I would have  atleast washed him and checked if there was any wounds.

Euron and Arya both have op powers. Euron has the cloak of invisibility, speed of light and can one shot dragons. He can probably take on the Night King too.

Yes, this annoys me to no end. Tyrion was a great strategist during the Battle of the Blackwater and Varys should have endless amounts of intel on Cersei. But they contribute nothing except criticism. Anybody could do that.

I think it's safe this say these last two episodes have killed any remaining good will I had for this show from the first four seasons. Like other rant and ravers here I stuck with it till the end because I hoped having GRRM's endgame would improve the quality. And for the opening two episodes, I was right.

It's amazing how quickly everything went south. First, they completely undercut the central threat of the entire series, and now they're sabotaging the lead characters.

How anyone can enjoy this show and root the people in it is beyond me. At least when The Walking Dead decided to devolve into torture porn it was well written. It was unpleasant and the opposite of fun, but you could tell thought and effort was put into it.
