Nevarfeather
Haven't enjoyed books like these in a long time, I can't be alone, right? The first book The Bear and the Nightingale is a Russian fantasy exploring old magic and new religion clashing in wintery northern forest. It's rich and immersive with a folklore that really bites. The lead characters form bonds and rivalries and outsiders breaking families while old magic seems to grip on this icy world. The Girl in the Tower is an even stronger novel I found. A slightly claustrophobic of the setting of the first novel, where winter confined characters is abandoned now and it opens up into legendary landscapes and the folklore of the first has even bigger consequences. Would heartily recommend and I can't wait for the third book. I haven't loved a lead character like Vasya so much in a long time. If you like themes of folklore, old worlds versus new and very kickass female leads then you might like this.
HexMachina
I loved The Bear and the Nightingale, folksy fairy-talesque stuff like that is my favourite kind of fantasy. I’m planning to read the rest of the trilogy, hopefully after my first law reread. im case you were unaware, the third book, Winter of the Witch, was released in January

bloodsteel bitterraven
I love these books, although to be honest I felt the third book was a bit disappointing.
