Varys needs to pick a side and stop causing more trouble

Recommended Posts

First of all we need to remember that varys was originally working to put dany's brother on the phone and that guy was insane.  But this thing he has with finding the right ruler needs to stop.  At this point the seven kingdoms needs peace more then anything yet varys is gonna switch sides to jon who doesn't want to be king and has no real support except the northman who are at this point the weakest kingdom due to how many soldiers they have lost since season one. So in order for jon to win he would need to get more allies and go against dany who he clearly supports. This will result in more war and more suffering. And this idea that a prolonged siege would result in very little death is insane. At the battle of leningrad in WW2 close to a million civilians died and the vast majority of them were from starvation, freezing, and sickness. Kingslanding wouldn't have that many die but the number would be high and it would be the peasents who suffered the most who varys says he cares about so much.  At least if dany launches full out attack the war will end and people can get to rebuilding and moving forward rather then everyone waiting to see if there will finaly be peace.

But what exactly does varys intend to do? It made it sound like he would kill dany and what would that result in. The people who are following dany wouldn't follow jon. And again jon doesn't have ANY support outside the north. So what is his plan? He needs to realize that constant war and chaos can be just as bad as a bad king.  Am I the only one who sees this whole thing as stupid. Dany could have won already if she had attacked KL early on and then the seven kindoms would be at peace instead she spent all of season 7 following varys and tyrions plan and lost dorne for a while, the reach, and most of the iron born who sided with yara.

Besides the argument that Jon may have support outside the North, the rest of your points are spot on. Dany seems to be in a rough spot right now because she was following the advice of Tyrion and Varys. Her reactions are normal and not 'mad'. And it is also true that Varys jumping around was not good for the realm.

In the name of the Realm, most of Dany's advisors should accept that they were the ones who failed in finding the winning strategy instead of trying to blame Dany for the effects of their own advice.

Jon does have pretty clear support outside the north. The Vale is ruled by his cousin who's wrapped around Sansa's finger, the Tullies still exist and can be installed again after Cersei is dead and Gendry is on friendly terms with Jon.

Jon doesn't have any family in the vale your thinking of sansa. And littlefinger was the one who had power over that weird kid. The tullies are in no state to fight now since their army got wiped out or surrendered to dany already. Gendry is only in power because dany put him there and will take time to get people to rally under him and would be in no state to fight dany.  Sorry but jon has no real support outside the north.

Yeah, Dany's advisors have ALL sucked. I mean really! Varys is one of the worst as well and I don't see him surviving tomorrow.
